Split this page!Notice: It has been suggested that this page or section be split into Warp Window.
Please discuss this on the talk page.

Reason: The so-called "Warp Holes" present inKirby: Planet Robobot not only look completely different; they're also named "WarpWindows" instead.

AWarp Hole is a magical circular rift in space that allowsKirby orKing Dedede to travel to a different location in a similar manner to aDoor inKirby: Triple Deluxe andKirby: Planet Robobot. Unlike doors, however, Warp Holes activate as soon as they are touched, and often take the user to very different locations than where they are originally found. Entering a Warp Hole triggers a special effect wherein the portal expands and the user tumbles into its center until they vanish from view.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

In the Story Mode ofKirby: Triple Deluxe, Warp Holes do not begin appearing until Stage 2 ofRoyal Road, where they often take the place of regular doorways. Kirby travels through them in order to reach and subsequently exit the arenas where he re-fights thebosses from the first five levels of the game, but Warp Holes are also used in these stages to travel from area to area as usual.

Warp Holes serve a more prominent purpose in theExtra ModeDededetour, where a special variety exists that can be found in hard-to-access areas or made to appear after meeting a certain condition. They tend to replaceSun Stones from the Story Mode with their placement. WhenKing Dedede hops into one of these, he can take a shortcut to reach the end of the level faster, while the "Royal Warp" jingle plays.

In one of theMiiverse posts, it was mentioned that the Warp Holes were probably created byQueen Sectonia to conquer the other countries. It was also mentioned that the reason whySectra Dees appear on islandsKirby backtracks to in a few Royal Road stages, and whyTaranza always gets away in time from Kirby, is because of the Warp Holes.[1]

Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]

InKirby: Planet Robobot, Warp Holes, now namedWarp Windows[Japanese title] make another appearance in some of the stages inAccess Ark, but here they have a different appearance, looking like screens with a green triangular pattern on them. Otherwise, they function largely the same way. Unlike in Dededetour, there are no shortcut Warp Windows inMeta Knightmare Returns.

  1. "The Warp Holes in level 6 that connect the various islands were probably put in place by the final boss who controls Royal Road, in order to forward the campaign for control of the land below and the countries beyond! No doubt this explains why the Sectra Dees (the insectoid foot soldiers) are already there when Kirby backtracks to the other islands during certain stages in Royal Road. And the fact that Kirby is unable to catch up with Taranza throughout the adventure is surely because Taranza is also taking advantage of these magical Warp Holes." –Shinya Kumazaki, quoted bySatoshi Ishida (Archived Miiverse post regarding Royal Road)
