Waddle Dee Café: Help Wanted! is one of the threeSub-Games fromKirby and the Forgotten Land andits Nintendo Switch 2 edition, which requires having theWaddle Dee Café rebuilt (by rescuing 60Waddle Dees) to unlock. In this game,Kirby andBandana Waddle Dee work behind the counter to hand outfood items toWaddle Dee customers as quickly and accurately as they can, failing if they take too long to get the correct orders, and getting paid inStar Coins if they succeed. To initiate this sub-game, Kirby needs to speak toCafé-Manager Waddle Dee, who is located off to the side of the café building. Completing the "Frenzy Gig" difficulty level of this sub-game is necessary to obtain the Café-Staff Kirbyfigure (and thus attain100% completion).

Gameplay[edit]

At the start of the game, the player selects if aSolo Gig or aCo-op Gig will be played, and then chooses between one of the three difficulty levels:Easy Gig,Hustle Gig, andFrenzy Gig. During gameplay, the only controls are to use the control stick (or +Control Pad or directional buttons) to move Kirby left and right between food items, and then press A or B to have Kirby select the item. In the Co-op Gig, Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee will bump into each-other if they try to slip past each-other, and one can get ahead of the other to select food items in the middle.

The game lasts 50 seconds, and in that time, the goal is to correctly serve as many Waddle Dee customers as possible by selecting the food items they ask for. A "satisfaction" meter appears at the top which gradually decreases over time, and can only be replenished by serving a correct item. Trying to serve a wrong item will only cause Kirby to stumble. Some Waddle Dees know right away which item they want, while others need some time to explain it (illustrated by the item icon appearing over their heads in various ways). Once 20 seconds are left, the "Lunch Rush" begins, which causes the satisfaction meter to deplete faster, but potentially allows Kirby to serve items faster in turn by better anticipating what the Waddle Dees want. As the meter falls lower, the Waddle Dees adopt sad, and then angry expressions, and if the meter runs out completely, the Waddle Dees become fed up and leave, resulting in failure. The game ends in success if time runs out with at least some of the satisfaction meter still left.

Upon completing a gig successfully, a results screen is shown where the number of served Waddle Dees are counted and then bonuses are awarded. Points are then converted toStar Coins as payment. In the Co-op Gig, Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee's scores are tracked separately, and the winner is whoever ends up with the higher score.

Difficulties and scoring[edit]

The difficulties for Waddle Dee Café: Help Wanted! are as follows:

Easy Gig[edit]

In Easy Gig, Kirby only has to choose between aMaxim Tomato and anEnergy Drink to serve customers, and the satisfaction meter depletes slowly. This is the only gig available at the start, and clearing it is required to unlock the other two. The scoring for a successful gig is as follows:

• 50 points per served Waddle Dee
• 500 points for no wrong orders
• 30 points per consecutive order (without making a mistake)
• Points awarded for customer satisfaction is 10 times the percentage, up to 1000 points.

Points are converted to Star Coins at roughly 48 points per coin.

Hustle Gig[edit]

In Hustle Gig, Kirby has to choose between a Maxim Tomato, an Energy Drink, and aCar-Mouth Cake to serve customers, and the satisfaction meter depletes at a moderate pace. This gig does not need to be cleared in order to 100% the game. The scoring for a successful gig is as follows:

• 80 points per served Waddle Dee
• 800 points for no wrong orders
• Consecutive order and satisfaction scores are the same as in Easy Gig.

Points are converted to Star Coins at roughly 36 points per coin.

Frenzy Gig[edit]

In Frenzy Gig, Kirby has to choose between a Maxim Tomato, an Energy Drink, a Car-Mouth Cake, and aKirby Burger to serve customers, and the satisfaction meter depletes very quickly. The scoring for a successful gig is as follows:

• 100 points per served Waddle Dee
• 1000 points for no wrong orders
• Consecutive order and satisfaction scores are the same as in Easy and Hustle Gig.

Points are converted to Star Coins at roughly 29 points per coin.
