Void Soul, titledEssence of Chaos, is a secretboss who is faced only inThe Ultimate Choice, at the end of the 'Soul Melter' difficulty. He is a souped-up version ofVoid Termina's Final Core, and used to be the true Final Boss ofKirby Star Allies prior to version 4.0.0, which added his stronger form,Void to the game. Defeating Void Soul is required to complete The Ultimate Choice and attain100% completion ofKirby Star Allies.
Characteristics[edit]
While he shares the same body plan withVoid Termina's Core, Void Soul is cyan in color. He has dark blue lines coursing through his body, their pattern similar to a contour system. Blue dark spots move about his body, often forming faces, including one similar toKirby, another like0², and another that resemblesDark Matter. His dark matter form gives him a blue pupil, unlike Dark Matter proper.
Boss battle[edit]
Void Soul is fought in a similar arena to his normal counterpart, and takes the place of Void Termina's fourth phase in his battle on 'Soul Melter' difficulty.
However, Void Soul's attack patterns are far more deadly and difficult to avoid, which compounds Kirby's reducedhealth in Soul Melter. He routinely uses attacks that can sweep or cover the entire stage, and can also cause the arena to flood with water. When he does so, Void Soul may also shock the water with huge electric lasers, dealing heavy damage to anyone submerged.
Similar to his normal counterpart, Void Soul can be damaged by directly tossingFriend Hearts at him. Void Soul has 1350 HP. His defense also constantly changes as he uses different attacks.
The following lists all of Void Soul's attacks. All attack names listed here were carried from the ones of the respective attacks from thefourth phase of Void Termina, which in turn come from a JapaneseKirby Star Allies guide, while the name of the new attack not present in the original Void Termina fight is conjecturally named.

There are gaps on each wave for Kirby and his friends to avoid. Any Friend hit by the wave will be converted against Kirby and other Friends. This can be undone by tossing aFriend Heart at the affected Friend or KO'ing them and then reviving them. |
| タノシイユメ Pleasant Dream[from internal data] | Instead of firing in 5 directions for his normal counterpart, Void Soul fires barrages of energy bullets in 3 directions but with a faster firerate while rotating the firing angle. The bullets leaveDropped Stars on impact. |

| マンメンノエガオ Full Smile (internally known as Laughing Needle[from internal data]) | Instead of poking needles on his own for his normal counterpart, Void Soul splits into four. The clones burst into laughter and their bodies poke needles to 8 directions, each needle leaving a star. This resembles the Needle Form ofMiracle Matter, although the needles are in the right spot (unlike in the original Final Core version) and their launch timing is perfect with each other. Sometimes, Void Soul uses two instances of the original version in a row, just like the original Final Core, however the water level rises before the needles come out and lowers after the attack finishes. |
| オオキナウタ Loud Song (internally known as Song Laser[from internal data]) | Void Soul has two patterns of firing lasers, which cannot beguarded: In the first pattern, he floods the stage with purple water. Then, he transforms into theDark Matter-like form and fires an electric laser downward twice, electrifying the water to hurt anyone underwater. This is similar to howDark Mind fires lasers downward in his second phase. In the second pattern, he fires lasers in the following order:

| カケッコ Sprint (internally known asBound Pond[from internal data]) | Instead of sprinting on his own for his normal counterpart, Void Soul splits into four to ram Kirby and friends, leaving two Dropped Stars on each side on impact. This resembles theBound Pound attack initially used byDrawcia Soul and othersoul bosses likeSoul of Sectonia. Just like with Full Smile, Void Soul's clones share their health with him. |
| イタダキマス Bon Appétit (internally known as Mini Core[from internal data]) | Instead of summoning only two minions for his normal counterpart, Void Soul summons three watery Dark Matter-like minions. Each minion opens a black hole in their mouth while attempting to inhale Kirby and friends by moving in a counterclockwise fashion unlike the original Final Core. If successful, Kirby and friends will be chewed on and take heavy damage. The minions can be defeated in one hit byBlizzard andZap augment attacks, and will disappear naturally if not defeated (each leaving behind aDropped Star that can be used as ammunition). |

Defeating Void Soul causes him to flare up and explode in quite dramatic fashion.
Trivia[edit]
- The primary face which Void Soul displays is very similar to the face that0² displays at the beginning of its fight.
- Void Soul is the first boss in the mainKirby series which can flood the arena withwater.
- His stronger form,Void can also flood the arena with water. Unlike Void Soul who floods almost the full stage for two specific attacks, Void only floods a small portion of the stage for his Sprint attack.
- If his health is reduced to 0 during his Sprint and Full Smile attacks, the Void Soul that suffered the finishing blow will become the real deal and explode, while the others vanish into thin air.
- A sphere resembling Void Soul appears in the background for the battle withMagolor Soul inThe True Arena inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe in place of the dark blue sphere usually seen there elsewhere in the game and in the original Wii version.
