"Twinkling☆Travelers"[2] is one of the the main themes ofKirby Star Allies. It is heavily associated with friendship due to its use duringFriend Star andFriend Train segments. It was composed byHirokazu Ando.[1]
Composition[edit]
"Twinkling☆Travelers" is an energetic theme in F minor, combining the acoustic piano providing harmonies with an electronic melody and percussion. It circles around a main motif beginning on the mediant. The motif repeats twice in its phrase and then resolves to give a false sensation of the relative key A-flat major that soon changes to F minor's dominant. It repeats with a slight variation, concluding the first section. The following section has a call and response between two differing phrases: one new one defined by its descending intonations and the original motif. After a transition, a variant of the first section repeats, with quicker returns to F minor in its melody. Connecting the theme to its final section is a piano solo and restatement of the motif. The final part itself inverts the roles of the different instrument types: an electronic accompaniment makes way for the piano's version of the motif, followed by a suspense. The track loops immediately afterwards.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]
"Twinkling☆Travelers" is the primary theme associated with theFriend Star andFriend Train. It also has several arrangements heard throughout the game:
- "Sudden Happy Ending": the first version of the song to be composed. An F and G major version of the theme. It features the intro section motif of "Twinkle☆Stars". Originally was composed as a stage theme, but later became the fake-out credits theme.[3] The "rewinding" variant of the theme is titledそうはとんやが… (Things Seldom Go Right...) onKirby Star Allies: The Original Soundtrack. Also used as the default theme for theCelebration Picture gallery before another song plays upon selecting a picture.
- "The Star Allies Have Your Back!": a remix with more electronic instruments like and a lead electric guitar. Integrates "Green Greens" and "Kirby's Triumphant Return" in its latter part. This remix plays during the finalStar Allies Sparkler section of the fight againstVoid Termina.
- "Oracles of the Threefold Glint": an acoustic extended remix. It includes fragments of "Green Greens" and "Kirby's Triumphant Return", and has both a major and a minor version of "Song of Supplication", the latter of which is followed by the motif from the second section of "Twinkle☆Stars". Hints of "Friendly Field" can be heard. Compositionally closer to the above mentioned track specifically. Plays during the second phase of the battle againstThe Three Mage-Sisters, as well as during theMorpho Knight battle if Player 1 plays as The Three Mage-Sisters.
Additionally, "Twinkling☆Travelers" is one of the themes that makes up "Having Watched You All Along".
Kirby's Dream Buffet[edit]
InKirby's Dream Buffet, "The Star Allies Have Your Back!" appears as "Kirby Star Allies: Bonus Song 3", unlocked if the player has save data ofKirby Star Allies. It can be used in bothFree Rolling mode and duringRaces.
Other appearances[edit]
InThe Sound of Kirby Café 2, "Oracles of the Threefold Glint" is combined with "Song of Supplication" for a light pop-styled theme called"Smile-Sisters & Gentlemen", arranged byMegumi Ohara.
Etymology[edit]
"Twinkling☆Travelers" derives from the original name ofKirby's Dream Land whenit was in development,ティンクル☆ポポ (Tinkuru Popo, "Twinkle☆Popo"); this reference is more direct in its Japanese name,ティンクル☆トラベラー ("Twinkle☆Traveler"). This is also the basis for "Twinkle☆Stars" and the Japanese name of theStar Allies Sparkler (ティンクルスターアライズ, "Twinkle Star Allies"). "Traveler" derives from howKirby is described in Japanese sources as "a young traveler" (旅の若者tabi no wakamono).
During development, the sound staff referred to the motif internally as "cheerful" (明るい,akarui).[3] "Sudden Happy Ending", "Things Seldom Go Right...", "Twinkling☆Travelers", and "The Star Allies Have Your Back!" all contain "akarui" in their internal filenames.
