Tilt-and-Roll Kirby (theme)

"Tilt-and-Roll Kirby" is the theme for the sub-gamewith the same name inKirby and the Forgotten Land and itsNintendo Switch 2 Edition. It was composed byJun Ishikawa.[1]
Composition[edit]

"Tilt-and-Roll Kirby" is intentionally written to resemble "White Wafers" fromKirby's Return to Dream Land, per an explicit request to Ishikawa fromShinya Kumazaki.[2] The two themes are both in common time (4/4), and have similar melodies, instruments (with the new addition of woodwinds in "Tilt-and-Roll Kirby") and tonal peculiarities, including whole-tone movements within a Mixolydian scale. "Tilt-and-Roll Kirby", however, has shorter phrases, and plays in C and E-flat major in the first portion, and G-flat major in the middle section. This G-flat major section is also close to the second section of "Explanations" in phrasing. After it is a transitional modulating passage and quick phrase between G and A to lead back to C major.
The Extra Hard version extends every other phrase of the original "Tilt-and-Roll Kirby", leading to an irregular 10/4 (with phrases of 6 and 4 respectively). This version adds bells, a decision likewise made in "Lunch Rush! A Wave of Waddles".
