Throw is one of the rarerCopy Abilities in theKirby series, first appearing inKirby's Adventure. It is one of the few to utilize Kirby's core ability toInhale, which Kirby does to grab anenemy, defeatedmid-boss or aStar Block. After grabbing one of them, Kirby becomes invincible and is able to pack a powerful toss in one of the six directions specified by the directional pad. The thrown projectile will be able to decimate most common enemies and otherwise do large amounts ofdamage, while also destroying any Star Blocks andmetal blocks in its path.
The ability is essentially an enhancement to inhaling; in particular, it allows Kirby to inhaleScarfy, which normally can't be inhaled. Its concept is similar toBackdrop, and starting withKirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, Throw Kirby gains a blue headband similar toSuplex.
Throw first appeared alongside the Copy Ability mechanic itself inKirby's Adventure. In this game, the Throw ability is obtained fromRolling Turtle, amid-boss who attacks Kirby with various grappling techniques. In addition to throwing enemies and blocks, Throw Kirby is also able to capture inhalable thrown objects such as theMeta-Knights' weapons. Throw's ability to bust metal blocks with the objects he tosses makes it a useful tool, but its rarity means that there's almost always another ability that can be obtained quicker to do the same job. Throw deals a staggering 18 damage inKirby's Adventure.[1]

In the remake ofKirby's Adventure,Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, Throw Kirby gets his blue headband for the first time. Throw is now obtained fromPhan Phan, who replaces Rolling Turtle from the original game, and only deals 12 damage.[2]
InKirby & The Amazing Mirror, Kirby still obtains the Throw ability from the mid-bossPhan Phan like in the previous title. While in this game Kirby's regular inhaling ability tires him after a few seconds, Throw Kirby can inhale indefinitely.
InKirby: Squeak Squad, Kirby can obtain the Throw ability from the common enemyBun. If Throw Kirby tries to inhale a major member ofthe Squeaks, it will stun them and make them drop anyTreasure Chests they happen to be holding, as if attempted with a regular inhale. After collecting Throw'sAbility Scroll, it has a bigger range and does more damage.
Throw here gains a new idle animation: Kirby holds his arms in a fighting pose, while his headband blows in the wind, similar to the idle animation ofFighter Kirby.
Throw Kirby makes a single appearance inKirby: Right Back at Ya! in the episodeCowardly Creature. Kirby gains this ability afterinhaling one of the large spike balls tossed at him byPhan Phan while it is possessed byWhippy. Using this ability, Kirby inhales to grab Whippy, and then proceeds to toss him around before finally launching him into outer space with a "tornado throw".
The theoretically fastest way to defeat Dark Meta Knight in both battles are usingSmash Bros. ability's 'Giant Swing' (9 damage per hit), however.[5]
A grabbed enemy/projectile can deal damage before being thrown, so if a boss is in front of the projectile, it will deal massive damage. Still, Kirby is not invincible during the attack, and he will eventually throw the projectile with no input.
