The Wild Red Yonder is the second stage of the levelBlue Sky Palace inKirby and the Rainbow Curse. In this stage,Kirby needs to outrun the continuous barrage of the flying warshipBastron as he makes his way through a series of tall towers high in the clouds.
Completing the stage unlocksKirby Rocket's Big Blastoff.
Overview[edit]
The stage begins with Kirby launching himself at a tall tower in the sky, and colliding with aSpear Cotta. From there, he needs to make his way upward in an auto-scrolling area past moreCottas. Shortly into his trip, a giant purple battleship calledBastron appears in the background and starts firing at him and surrounding areas. As Kirby progresses into the building, he will need to avoid these blasts. In the meantime, a treasure chest can be found in this area.
In the second area, Kirby heads through tighter interior spaces and hallways, where he will have to avoid or deal with theCotta Generals on patrol while collectingPoint Stars. In a few spots, the Bastron will find an opening to fire on Kirby, so he will need to keep moving. Two more treasure chests can be found in the same relative place on this path. Near the end, Kirby ascends a tall tower, then uses aLaunch Cannon to shoot up past some ineffectualSpear Cotta Knights.
Kirby lands in a bed of clouds high up in the tower complex. After a brief respite where he can safely grab some stars and food, Bastron returns and starts firing on him again. Kirby will have to dodge these shots as he traverses a more open area, with relatively few places to land and replenish ink forRainbow Ropes. Bastron's barrage becomes more intense near the end, but its shots can be guided to inadvertently help Kirby reach some goodies, including two more treasure chests (one of which is in a challenge room). Near the end, Kirby can make use of another cannon, made accessible by Bastron's shots, to escape.
The last area has Kirby careening through some towers before colliding with another Spear Cotta. From there, he can reach theroulette wheel at the end of the stage.
