The Kirby Quiz is the 64th episode of theKirby: Right Back at Ya! series. In this episode, to commemorate the New Year,King Dedede andEscargoon set up a special quiz show based onKirby and the events of previous episodes hosted by theN.M.E. Sales Guy. The quiz proceeds normally at first, but King Dedede and Escargoon attempt to sabotage it near the end. Despite initially appearing to win the event, Kirby and Tiff reveal their trick to the crowd, and the N.M.E. Sales Guy disqualifies King Dedede and Escargoon, granting them a "consolation prize" of being launched from a fireworks cone.
This episode serves as a way to recap the series up to this point, in a similar fashion toThe Pillow Case. The way the episode proceeds makes it questionable whether or not it is part of theoverall storyline of the show.

Plot synopsis[edit]
The episode begins atCastle Dedede, whereKing Dedede andEscargoon are riding the throne as it travels along its automated rail system and they are talking about greeting the sunrise on a new year. Once they reach a certain balcony, King Dedede greets that sunrise, and then commences a celebration by having hisWaddle Dees fire the castle's cannons to wake everyone else up. From there, a new show broadcasts onChannel DDD called "The Kirby Quiz Challenge", and invites five teams of contestants to win a grand prize. A special stage is set up which everybody inCappy Town attends and Escargoon announces the teams of contestants (details in section below) and finishes by introducing theN.M.E. Sales Guy as the host. Once everyone is set up in their podiums, the quiz begins.
As the quiz progresses, the Star Team consisting ofTiff andKirby gains a considerable lead over the other teams, with the Treasure Team of King Dedede and Escargoon falling steadily behind and getting frustrated. In order to boost their chances, they distract Kirby with awatermelon around Question 10 to force the Star Team to be absent for a moment. As the final question comes up, the N.M.E. Sales Guy reveals the grand prize to be a free trip to the tropical planet "Hawahu". For the last question, all contestants guess the right answer, but have their answers sabotaged excepting King Dedede and Escargoon, allowing the Treasure Team to claim the special 100 point question and win the event. As soon as Kirby returns from his snack, however, he accidentally bumps into the Waddle Dee who had done the sabotaging, revealing the trick to the crowd. Seeing this, the N.M.E. Sales Guy ends up disqualifying the Treasure Team, allowing the Star Team to take the win instead. For their efforts, the Treasure Team is given a "consolation prize" of being launched from the fireworks cannons that commemorate the end of the event and to celebrate the new year. The episode ends as the other characters watch the fireworks.

Differences between versions[edit]
- In the Japanese version, there are a few extra minor shots of characters watching theChannel DDD broadcast.
- In the Japanese version, Samo and Chef Kawasaki are appointed to the Snow Team, not the Lightning Team.
- In the Japanese version, there is an extra scene where Meta Knight and his soldiers comment on the quiz show being run byNight Mare Enterprises.
- In the Japanese version, an arrangement of "A New Wind for Tomorrow" plays during Question 8.
- In the Japanese version, the small signs that theN.M.E. Sales Guy holds up during the true/false question have the letters "T" and "L" on them, for "Truth" and "Lie". In the international versions, the L sign is changed to an "F" for "False".
- In the Japanese version, the banner in the party ball that opens up for the Treasure Team after the final question has English text which reads "CONGRATULATIONS". In the international versions, it is blank.
Dialogue differences[edit]
- In the Japanese version,Escargoon points out that New Year's Day was "four days ago".
- In the Japanese version, Kirby repeats "Fire Kirby!" along withTiff when answering Question 6.
- In the Japanese version, the N.M.E. Sales Guy explicitly breaks thefourth wall when he chides the teams for getting Question 6 wrong, saying (translated) "Now now, if you got up early every week to watch the show, you'd know these things!"
- After King Dedede answers Dedede instead of Knuckle Joe, in the English version, he says his hand must've slipped. In the Japanese version, he hated that his own name wasn't showing up.
- In the question after that (the name of Knuckle Joe's attack), Escargoon's and Dedede's answer in English is "who cares, anyway?". In the Japanese version, they say they don't know.
- In the Japanese version, the N.M.E. Sales Guy explicitly names the grand prize destination as "Planet Hawaii".
