| “ | I see numbers on the side of a machine... | ” | — Stadium Prediction forTarget Flight inKirby Air Ride |
Target Flight is a type ofStadium inKirby Air Ride andKirby Air Riders, having a chance to appear at the end ofCity Trial on default settings. It tasks riders with flying their machines into panels to earn as many points as possible.
Overview[edit]

Target Flight takes place over the course of two rounds. At the start of each round, riders begin by driving down a runway which ends in a ramp. After boosting off of it, riders fly forward towards panels with numbers on them (5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 100). To earn points, riders must fly their machine into one of these panels—preferably one with a higher number on it—to gain that amount of points. The panels featuring "100" on them are often the hardest to hit, requiring careful aim and control in the air. In addition to the numbers on the panels, there are also tiles with numbers on the floor, but these only feature numbers ranging from 5–40. At the end of the second round, both scores are combined, and the rider with the highest total score is crowned the winner.
In this Stadium, the highest attainable score is 200 points (achieved by hitting a panel with "100" on it in both rounds). As such, it is important to have a machine that excels in top speed and handling, so that it can get to a high-scoring panel fast and successfully hit it before anyone else.
Stadiums (Kirby Air Ride)[edit]

InKirby Air Ride, Target Flight is the only Stadium of its type. In each round, the Kirbys start on a long runway with a large dip that prepares them for launch: after the ramp, the Kirbys fly towards a large board made up of panels with numbers on them.
On this board, there is always a panel worth 50 points, a panel worth 100 points, and a handful of panels worth 10 or 30 points. These are in different positions every round. The panel with 100 points has a shutter on it which repeatedly opens and close: if Kirby hits the shutter, he will gain no points, and also cause the shutter to stop moving. There can also be some closed panels from the beginning of a round, which will also give no points when hit. If another player hits one of the panels on the wall, it will become a light beige, its number will disappear, and any other players who try to hit that panel will score no points. On the floor, the highest-scoring panel is one worth 40 points which–like the panels on the board–is in a random position.
In this game, timing with the boost pads near the end of the ramp is something to consider, as going too fast might cause Kirby to reach the "100" panel just as the shutter closes completely.
