Sword Knight (Sword for short) is a recurring supporting character in the anime seriesKirby: Right Back at Ya!. He is one ofMeta Knight's apprentices, along with his companionBlade Knight; whom he is almost always seen standing nearby. Sword Knight greatly resembles his appearance from the video games; wearing pale green armor at all times and never showing his face. He typically wields a golden sword and is decently skilled with it, though he and Blade also have other interests and skills.

In the 4Kids dub, Sword Knight speaks with a British cockney accent, which sets him aside from his partner Blade Knight who is usually unintelligible. In the Japanese version, his voice is high-pitched, though slightly deeper than Blade Knight's, and the two often finish each-others' sentences, similar toFololo & Falala.

Personality[edit]

Sword Knight is a stout and disciplined soldier, but he is somewhat inexperienced, particularly when compared to his sworn master Meta Knight. Sword Knight takes his role as an apprentice seriously, though almost to a fault, since he treats the other residents of Dream Land as little more than entities to be protected, rather than people to engage with socially. He does tend to speak more often to the people he protects than Blade Knight, however, though that may be primarily due to his speech being more understandable. Since Sword and Blade Knight have known each-other longer than they have any other member of the cast, they trust each-other implicitly and work well together. However, this leads them to being largely interchangeable in personality, much likeFololo & Falala.

In the episodeHour of the WolfWrath, Sword Knight and Blade Knight are revealed to have once been road-side bandits and attempted to rob Meta Knight once before he saved them fromWolfWrath. It was this act that led them to swear loyalty to him. Because of this history and despite their loyalty, both Sword and Blade are somewhat temperamental and undisciplined, which sometimes leads them into trouble. However, they have permanently left their criminal pasts behind, and do not disturb the people of Cappy Town.

Hour of the WolfWrath		Primary character	Sword Knight has a leading role in this episode. He and Blade Knight try to step in to help Meta Knight battle the monsterWolfWrath, who is attacking Castle Dedede. In the process, Meta Knight is paralyzed by the monster, and in his last words before freezing up completely, asks Sword and Blade to look after Kirby and the others. Sword and Blade initially ignore this order and try to avenge their master, but WolfWrath forces them to withdraw and get everyone to safety in the castle. Tiff tries to reason with them, reminding them of Meta Knight's orders, and then asks them how they came to be under Meta Knight's tutelage in the first place. The two recount their story, explaining that during the war between theStar Warriors andeNeMeE, they were reduced to becoming roadside bandits in order to survive. They tried to ambush Meta Knight, but ended up getting caught up in his running battle with WolfWrath. Meta Knight saved them from this monster, resulting in the two swearing their loyalty to him. After telling this tale, WolfWrath escapes the castle out into the countryside, leaving Sword and Blade honor-bound to try and stop it from attacking Dream Land. Kirby joins them using Meta Knight's swordGalaxia, and together, they manage to trap WolfWrath in a large pond, weakening it enough so that Kirby can finish it off using a Sword Beam.	"The struggle turned the whole galaxy into a wasteland! To survive, we became bandits!"	This marks Sword Knight's first leading role in an episode.
Abusement Park		Secondary character	In this episode, Sword Knight helps Meta Knight rescue Kirby and the kids from King Dedede's trap in the depths of his castle by knocking out the security cameras and destroying some moving statues of Dedede.	"The cameras are all out of commission!"
The Kirby Derby - Part I		Secondary character	In this episode, Sword Knight and Blade Knight help repairKirby's Starship so that it can be used for King Dedede's Grand Prix race. Later on, the two can be seen at the race itself.	"We finally got Kirby's Starship ready for the race, Meta Knight."
The Kirby Derby - Part II		Secondary character	In this episode, Sword Knight is initially present for the race as part of Meta Knight's pit crew. Later on, however, he and Blade step in as Kirby's pit crew. In the process of fixing up his ship, they sabotage Kirby's brakes on Meta Knight's orders, in order to put Kirby into a dangerous situation where he will need to learn to fly his ship. This plan ends up working when Kirby goes careening off a cliff toward a gaping ravine, and activates his ship's flight to avoid it.	"We're the crew now!"

Later on, the two of them accompany Tiff and Meta Knight to inspect Sir Gallant's ship, and the two set to work repairing it for him so he can leave. Once the ship is ready to go, the two man the controls, liftoff the ship, fire at theDestroyas over Dream Land, and then takeoff towards the fortress.	"It's a flying fortress built just for battle! Look closer... See them saucers flying 'round? They're all Destroyas, just like the ones that attacked Cappy Town!"
Combat Kirby		Primary character	In this episode, Sword and Blade continue their role from the previous episode as part of the Halberd Crew. Once the ship is set to coast at hyperspeed, the two are free to follow the other crew members around the ship, as they get used to their stations and train for the attack on the fortress. When the monsterHeavy Lobster attacks the ship, Sword and Blade are on the front lines doing their best to try and fend off the robotic menace. Sword Knight in particular tries to attack it using a missile launcher, but is unable to dent its armor. When the group are forced to fall back into the engine room, Kirby gains theIce ability and uses it to freeze Heavy Lobster, allowing Sword Knight to finish it off with one more missile. After this, the two man the command deck once more for the assault on eNeMeE's Fortress.	"Don't worry, she'll be fine. This ship's made to move at hyper-speeds!"
Fright to the Finish		Secondary character	In this episode, after attempting to fire on eNeMeE to little avail, Sword and Blade are ordered to try and retreat as the fortress's internal defense systems attack the ship. Their escape route is ultimately cut off, forcing them to land the ship in a large metal crevasse inside the fortress. From here, Sword and Blade follow the rest of the crew, eventually being forced to abandon the ship when it is beset and destroyed by some Destroyas. They have no further particular role from here, eventually escaping with the others through theMonster Delivery System back to Dream Land after eNeMeE is defeated by Kirby and the fortress set to explode.	"Here we go!"

• BothKirby Super Star Ultra'sMeta Knightmare Ultra andKirby Mass Attack'sKirby Quest feature Meta Knight with a Sword Knight and Blade Knight at his side. These two supporting knights are very likely meant to represent Sword and Blade from the anime.
• Eric Stuart only took the role of voicing Sword Knight inepisode 82 and onward. Sword Knight's voice actor before then is unknown.
• In the Japanese version of the anime, Sword Knight is voiced by a female voice actor, Hikaru Tokita.
