Super Jump Ramp

Super Jump Ramp is an object which can be found inKirby Air Ride, in several different shapes and sizes. When a racer enters the ramp, they will be sent into the air, and land in a predetermined spot. While using a Super Jump Ramp, the racer will be unable to perform most actions until landing, and will always be sent in a particular direction and speed, regardless of how it was entered. It should be noted however that Super Jump Ramps only work when riding an Air Ride Machine; trying to enter one on foot will do nothing.
Other types of Super Jump Ramp exist which can only be activated by initiating aBoost (not applying to wheeled machines).
One of the most interesting examples of a Super Jump Ramp is the volcano inCity Trial. Jumping into the caldera at the end of the bridge from the Heat Top area will cause the racer to be launched all the way up to the Garden in the Sky. This is the only way for Air Ride Machines with poor aerial mobility to reach this part of the map.
Interestingly, while in a Super Jump Ramp, pausing and using the C-stick to change the camera will cause the entire viewport to tilt sideways, instead of the usual camera rotation.
Locations[edit]
Below are all the locations Super Jump Ramps can be found in City Trial:
- Two ramps appear underground in the city. They will send Kirby through the skylights and back onto the ground level.
- One ramp appears in the city near theCopy Chance Wheel; it will send Kirby to the top of the nearby building.
- 5 different ramps appear in the Electric Lounge, 3 on the ground floor, 1 on the blue floor, and 1 on the dark green floor. The color of their base corresponds to the color of the floor they will send Kirby to.
- Two ramps appear in the caves under the forest. They will send Kirby back up to the surface. Interestingly, they cause the machines to pass straight through a solid ceiling on the way out.
- The caldera of Heat Top acts as a Super Jump Ramp and will cause players who fall into it to be launched up to the Garden in the Sky.
- In the cave underneath Heat Top, there's another large Super Jump Ramp that will take players to the Garden in the Sky.
- The waterwheel and two golf holes in Green Canvas also act similarly to Super Jump Ramps.
Super Jump Ramps are rare outside of City Trial, but appear in some instances:
- Some ramps appear midway throughBeanstalk Park. These ramps appear as purple circles and require a Boost to be activated. They will take the racer from the lower path to the higher path.
- Similar purple ramps appear inKirby Melee 2, which will send Kirby to a higher point in the castle when activated with Boost.
