| “ | Pound stakes into the ground with the Stone and Hammer abilities! | ” | — In-game tip fromKirby Star Allies |
AStake (also called aPeg orPost) is a wooden post object that sticks out from the ground. It appears in manyKirby games, starting withKirby's Adventure, and appears in all subsequent titles featuring theHammerCopy Ability. Stakes are found in various areas and serve as a type ofswitch that can only be pressed down using certain attacks. When pressed, a stake triggers a chain reaction of destroyingblocks or a similar effect in the same manner as aBomb Block.
Variants[edit]
Super stake[edit]
In addition to normal stakes, there is also a giantSuper stake that can only be pounded in using theGrand HammerSuper Ability. The Super stake can either get pounded in incrementally, or all at once, depending on the power of the hammer swing.
Frozen stake[edit]
InKirby Star Allies, some stakes can be found encrusted in ice. To pound these, the ice must first be broken away, which can be done with any fire-based attack or more directly with aSizzle Hammer.
Wall stake[edit]
InKirby Star Allies, stakes can be found in walls. These can only be hit using any of the three types ofCurling or theHammer ability's Giant Swing or Ultra-Giant Swing moves.
Electric stake[edit]
InKirby Star Allies, there is a special electric variety of stake which is typically attached to awire. If hit, it will simply reset unless hit with aZap Hammer or withGeokinesis. If submerged in water, this stake cannot be activated at all.
Nail[edit]
Nails appear inKirby and the Forgotten Land, and function identically to stakes, although in some cases multiple nails on the same object need to be hit for anything to happen. They can also appear on walls.
