| “ | ASuper Ability helped you enter this strange space, and aSphere Doomer has flown in from a different dimension as well! It won't let you steal theenergy of the spheres...so brace for anattack! | ” | — VS Sphere Doomer description fromKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe |
Sphere Doomers are a collection ofmid-bosses first appearing inKirby's Return to Dream Land. They are creatures fromAnother Dimension that are attracted toEnergy Spheres. Sphere Doomers are usually encountered at the end of interdimensional segments in many stages, which can be entered throughdimensional rifts revealed using aSuper Ability. A Sphere Doomer encounter taking place inStory Mode orExtra Mode always yields two Energy Spheres.
Types[edit]
Regular Form[edit]

| “ | Why does this dimension suddenly feel sodark andmurky? Is it because you entered from Halcandra? There are a lot more Doomers here too...and some are evenpairing up andworking as a team! | ” | — VS Sphere Doomers Special Page fromKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe |
There are four various color-types of Sphere Doomers, encountered at different points of the game:
- Neutral Sphere Doomers have no special characteristics and are relatively easy to defeat. They are officially described as blue (though their overall color is closer to purple), and have two tail feathers. They are encountered in Cookie Country and Dangerous Dinner - Stage 3.
- Fire Sphere Doomers use fiery charge attacks and shoot projectiles that leave small flames behind. They are officially described as red, and have three tail feathers. They are encountered in Raisin Ruins, Onion Ocean and Dangerous Dinner - Stage 3.
- Spark Sphere Doomers shoot projectiles that detonate into bursts of electricity. They are officially described as green (though their color also includes cyan accents), and have four tail feathers. They are encountered in White Wafers and Nutty Noon.
- Ice Sphere Doomers can shoot freezing projectiles and use a close-range ice burst attack. They are officially described as silver, and have five tail feathers. They are encountered in Egg Engines and the first two stages of Dangerous Dinner.
The following lists all of the Sphere Doomers' attacks inKirby's Return to Dream Land. Color-coded names correspond to attacks only specific Sphere Doomers can utilize. Attack names are taken from official Japanese strategy guides unless otherwise stated.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Attack | Description | Variants | Notes | |
| グライド体当たり Glide Attack | A Sphere Doomer charges up, then dives across the stage, dealing damage if it hits Kirby. | They can swoop in from above, down low to the ground or attack from the background. | ||
| エナジー弾 Energy Bullet | After a brief charge-up, the Sphere Doomer fires energy orbs out of their mouths. | These orbs can be fired in a multitude of different ways, either in the foreground or in the background. The Spark Sphere Doomer can, at the center of the arena, summon four energy orbs, two on both sides of it. After a brief delay, the orbs dissipate, sending a blast of lightning down from above. | The red, green and silver orbs can be swallowed to gain theFire,Spark andIce abilities respectively. | |
| バーニングアタック Burning Attack | The Fire Sphere Doomer starts rolling as it engulfs itself in flame while locking on to Kirby's current vertical position. After a long pause, it flies across the stage. | |||
| 落雷攻撃 Electric Shock | The Spark Sphere Doomer charges up for a few seconds and then moves from one side of the arena to the other while periodically shooting lightning bolts above and below it every few seconds. | |||
| スパークエナジーショット Spark Energy Shot | The Spark Sphere Doomer charges up and releases three large electric ball projectiles which fly across the stage, one at a time, changing where it fires each time. | |||
| アイスクラッシュ Ice Crush | The Ice Sphere Doomer starts charging up while slowly drifting towards a given target. It then releases a series of three icy bursts around itself. | |||
InThe Arena andThe True Arena, all four of them are fought in one battle, but they don't yield any Energy Spheres. They are fought in the following order:
- Spark
- Neutral & Fire
- Ice
EX Form[edit]

| “ | The portal into this different dimension was opened by aSuper Ability. With this spaceclosing as time passes, one single spot holding the spheres now remains...along with a Doomer circling above! | ” | — VS Sphere Doomer EX Special Page inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe |
| “ | Halcandra stands alone, only reachable bypassing through other dimensions... The Doomers, long ago, had adifferent form and couldwarp space and time... Is that why they seek the spheres? | ” | — VS Sphere Doomers EX Special Page inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe |
InExtra Mode and The True Arena, Sphere Doomers appear in their EX form. Their appearances are modified slightly, as they now have one eye as opposed to two, the feathers on their head are changed to a large horn, and the edges of their wings are pointed. They also gain new attacks and can fire more projectiles at once.

The purple Sphere Doomer's background glide has it zig-zag while swooping. | ||
| エナジー弾 Energy Bullet | After a brief charge-up, the Sphere Doomer fires energy orbs out of their mouths. Certain orbs will not immediately disappear upon hitting the ground and after a few seconds will either disappear (purple), burst into flames (red), shoot electric bolts into the air (green) or leave behind damaging ice (silver). | |
| ミニブラックホール Mini Black Hole | After a brief charge-up, the Sphere Doomer creates a small vortex at its location, which lingers for a short time and pulls Kirby and friends towards it. Contact with the center of the black hole deals damage. | Only the Ice Sphere Doomer can use this attack from the start of the battle; all other Doomers can only use it after losing around 55% of their maximum health. | ||
| バーニングアタック&セカンドアタック Burning Attack & Second Attack | The Fire Sphere Doomer starts rolling as it engulfs itself in flame while locking on to Kirby's current vertical position. After a long pause, it flies halfway across the stage, stops, repositions to Kirby's current vertical position and then charges again. | |||
| 旋回電撃アタック Swirling Electric Shock Attack | The Spark Sphere Doomer charges up for a few seconds and then moves from one side of the arena to the other while rotating a wave of electric orbs around itself, either clockwise or counterclockwise, depending on which side of the arena it's at by the time the attack starts. | |||
| スパークエナジーショット Spark Energy Shot | The Spark Sphere Doomer charges up and releases three large electric ball projectiles which fly across the stage, one at a time, changing where it fires each time. | |||
| アイスクラッシュフォーリング Ice Crush Falling | The Ice Sphere Doomer teleports above a given target, charges up while slowly falling and then releasing an icy burst around itself upon hitting the ground. After doing this twice in a row, it teleports to the center of the arena, charges up and releases another icy burst alongside four ice shards firing in the diagonal directions at the same time. | |||
| 画面反転 Screen Flip | The Ice Sphere Doomer charges up and then flips the screen upside-down for the next three attacks it performs. Once done, it then flips the screen right-side up. | This attack is reminiscent of a similar oneDark Mind could use inKirby & The Amazing Mirror. | ||
