Speed Down is an item which appears in theTop Ride andCity Trial modes ofKirby Air Ride andKirby Air Riders. In its Top Ride appearance, it resembles a tire with a yellow rim and a blue arrow pointing downwards, while in its City Trial appearance, it instead has a grey rim and the end of the arrow is wider.

In Top Ride, it appears randomly during standard races, dropping onto the course. When touched by a racer, a large gray tire will be placed behind the racer's vehicle, dragging it down and emitting black smoke. While in effect, the racer becomes considerably slower. Speed Down cannot be shaken off using aQuick Spin. It can, however, be removed by a stage hazard, or by passing it onto a rival. It will also disappear on its own after about 8 seconds.

In City Trial, Speed Down appears with a similar function, though here, it does not manifest behind the vehicle when picked up, and cannot be passed to other racers.
