"Snowball Scuffle"[1][2] is a theme that originated fromKirby's Return to Dream Land, where it plays in thefirst andthird stages ofWhite Wafers. It was composed byJun Ishikawa.
Composition[edit]

"Snowball Scuffle" is a cheery theme in C major with a time signature of 4/4. It uses instruments heard in "Shiver Star" fromKirby 64: The Crystal Shards, such as glockenspiel and sleigh bells, that create a wintery atmosphere. Both have similar harmonic accompaniments consisting of repeated chord stabs played by trumpets.
"Snowball Scuffle" structurally resembles "Beyond the Hill". Its first section features a melody beginning with a glockenspiel rising octave that follows with a small rise and slow descent, with subdominant harmonies dominating. It repeats with slight variations, which are toned down due to the nature of the instrument. A clarinet plays the melody again and gradually leads to a transitional melody, that is heard first by string-like instruments and then the original glockenspiel, transitioning through different tonalities, such as E flat major, B flat minor, G minor. The melody takes a turn resembling the final portion of "Beyond the Hill" that leads to a loop, but prior to reprising this function it resolves to G minor. With some tweaks, the melody passes through harmonies that lead it back to the original C major, at which point the track loops.
