Leap ahead of your rivals using jumps!

This course has plenty of features along its route. If you Boost on one of its many shiny Jump Panels, you can cover tons of ground and sail past rivals!''

— Kirby Air Ride North American instruction booklet, page 37

Sky is one of the sevenTop Ride courses inKirby Air Ride. It is a medium-length course set high in the sky atop a stony platform, which features lots of moving platforms.

Overview[edit]

The track display of Sky.

Sky is the third course and features a slightly longer and more complex path than the previous coursesGrass andSand. The finish line is set at the bottom-left of the course just before the lower-left-most platform, and the track moves clockwise past another platform above, then along a bouncy ramp before passing through the large platform on the right to finish a circuit. The default number of laps needed to complete this course is six.

Unlike in most courses, the hazards of Sky are not the type that directly attack the racers, but instead serve to either slow them down or speed them up. They are as follows:

  • The left isle is attached to a series of conveyor belts that move in toward the platform when activated. On the center of the platform is a switch (called the Isle Knob) that, when pressed, causes the platform to start moving up and down. The lower down the platform is, the faster the conveyor belts move. Pressing the isle knob again causes the platform to stop in whatever position it was in at the time, but it can be restarted again later.
  • The upper ramp reacts to the weight of the racers by wobbling up and down. There are three Jump Plates on the ramp that, when activated, cause the racer to be launched a short distance upward.
  • The right-most isle has a floor which spins either clockwise or counterclockwise depending on the way the wind is blowing. The obstacles in the middle prevent racers from riding directly through the middle, forcing them to ride either with or against the rotation.

In Free Run mode, the hazards of Sky are disabled. This means that the isles do not move, the jump plates do not work, the conveyor belts are not active, and the Isle Knob does nothing.
