"Sandy Wilds" is a musical theme heard inKirby's Return to Dream Land andits remake. This theme was composed byJun Ishikawa.

Composition[edit]

Fire Kirby burns his way through the scorching desert.

"Sandy Wilds" begins with a short intro reminiscent of the immediately preceding "Raisin Ruins" theme. It plays in the key of A minor in 4/4 and is notably similar to "Green Greens" structurally, melodically and name-wise, albeit with a Wild West theme. The first phrase features a rising tonic triad and a descent full of dotted rhythm, played first by an accordion and then with a synth. The second phrase moves more gradually and hints at major tonalities. The third part is a decorated quotation of "Kirby's Triumphant Return", which incidentally is often connected to "Green Greens". Finally, a more eerie section similar to "Green Greens"' second section with the addition of rapid fifths between G and D plays before the track loops. Some parts of the theme quote the motif ofthe theme fromThe Good, the Bad and the Ugly (a pattern of two notes across five beats in a distinctive zigzagging pattern), which is typically used to evoke the Wild West.
