This article is about the level inKirby's Dream Land 3. For the similarly-named level inKirby Mass Attack, seeSandy Canyon.

Sand Canyon is the third level inKirby's Dream Land 3. It is primarily based on a North American desert, containing vast, rocky wastelands, various stone formations and cacti. It also features a large ominous pyramid in its final stage. Theboss fought in this level isPon & Con. This level followsRipple Field and is followed byCloudy Park.

Cutscene[edit]

Kirby,Rick, andCoo are playing a ball game usingGooey as the ball, whileChuChu is admiring a flower. Coo overshoots, causing Gooey to collide with the wall, then fall and squish the flower. ChuChu gets angry at the others, who are watching in dismay as Gooey licks ChuChu, which then results in her punching Gooey very hard into the wall. After this, ChuChu blushes as the others stare at her in fear.

Overview[edit]

Sand Canyon is largely a desert-themed land, with little in the way of vegetation or water. Many areas have open skies, makingCoo handy to have around. As Kirby travels through this area, he will pass by rocky crags in stage 1, through a wasteland of mixed rock and sand in stage 2, through a volcanic region in stage 3, across the twilit dunes and through a submerged tunnel in stage 4, through a hollow cave structure in stage 5, and into a strange black pyramid in stage 6. The hazards present in each stage are varied and difficult to predict.

TheHeart Stars in this level are often counter-intuitive and may require extensive time and effort to solve, particularly the task in stage 6.

Each stage is unlocked in succession after clearing the previous one. DefeatingPon & Con is necessary to move on toCloudy Park. Trivia[edit]

• Sand Canyon is notable for being the only level inKirby's Dream Land 3 (besides theHyper Zone) that did not debut in its predecessor,Kirby's Dream Land 2; the latter does, however, contain a similar level known asRed Canyon, which may have served as the inspiration for this one.
