"Room Guarder" is a short theme set on the key of C major, and is similar to both "Mid-Boss Battle" andthe boss theme fromKirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It starts with a short one bar intro, followed by a simple melody that always uses five chords per bar, at a constant rhythm that never changes. For all bars, the first four chords are always the same, and the fifth is always one pitch higher, and the variance in the melody comes from the initial chords of the bar. For instance, the first two bars feature the exact same notes, while the two bars after have all chords go up in pitch. This group of four bars is repeated next, and the last four bars of the song follow a similar pattern, but are all in a much higher pitch. In other words, the bar structure of the piece is AABB-AABB-CCDD, with each bar following a structure of AAAAB for their chords.
InKirby Air Ride, an arrangement of the theme, named"Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards: Mid-boss Room", can be unlocked as the alternate track ofLight by completing theTop Ride checklist "Time Attack: LIGHT Finish in under 00:33:00!" This version features the original melody repeated four times, with each one adding a new instrument to the accompanying melody, in a similar fashion to "Ruins" fromKirby 64: The Crystal Shards.
InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, the theme is one of the many boss themes incorporated into the "Boss Theme Medley". The medley is one of the default tracks of theHalberd stage, and is arranged by Kentaro Ishizaka.
The track returns inSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. In the latter, it can be played on anyKirby series stage, Battlefield, Big Battlefield, Small Battlefield and Final Destination, like all otherKirby tracks in the game.
InKirby Mass Attack, a faithful arrangement of the theme (though omitting the intro), named"Fearsome Foe", plays in most of the game's mid-boss battles and enemy ambushes.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land /Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]
InKirby Star Allies, an arrangement of the theme at a slightly slower tempo plays in the puzzle rooms of non-extra stages of the first two levels of the game,World of Peace: Dream Land, andWorld of Miracles: Planet Popstar. This version features the original melody played twice: the first section removes the first note of every other bar starting with the second, apart from the third-to-last bar, while the second has the original melody with no changes to the notes. It is named"Friend Puzzle Solving" onNintendo Music, and arranged by the original composer, Jun Ishikawa.
