Rolling Pawn[Japanese title] is a stone idol attached to a chain inKirby Mass Attack which influences the rotation position of themid-bossGreat Gear. During the battle with this mid-boss, two sets of Rolling Pawns may appear on each side of the arena which counterbalance each-other. TheKirbys can destroy a Rolling Pawn by being tossed at them repeatedly, whereupon they will become progressively more cracked until they crumble. Small Rolling Pawns are worth 200 points, and large Rolling Pawns are worth 400. Destroying a Rolling Pawn will change the balance of the weight scale relative to the other side, with the large Rolling Pawns weighing twice as much as the small ones. Doing this will rotate the face of Great Gear and potentially expose the mid-boss's weak point. Once Great Gear is hit in this spot, it will automatically drop any Rolling Pawns it may have conjured from the chains before replacing them with new ones.

Rolling Pawns may also be accompanied byRolling Spikes, which look similar, but have retractable spikes which can harm the Kirbys.
