Revenge of Meta Knight (Map)

"Revenge of Meta Knight (Map)" is a music track that first appeared inKirby Super Star, where it is heard inRevenge of Meta Knight. It is a repetitive and powerful theme, playing in most of the game's cutscenes.

Kirby Super Star /Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]
InKirby Super Star and its remakeKirby Super Star Ultra, "Revenge of Meta Knight (Map)" is heard during the cutscenes featuring theHalberd taking damage (excepting the final cutscene), as well as the cutscenes in which Kirby approaches the Halberd. (However, the second cutscene in this category featuringDyna Blade plays "Boarding the Halberd" instead inKirby Super Star Ultra).
Kirby Air Ride[edit]
While more of a minor piece inKirby Air Ride, "Revenge of Meta Knight (Map)" can be selected as an alternate theme for theSky course in theTop Ride game mode. This version is remastered with higher-quality MIDI instruments. This particular version of the theme also appears in certain episodes of the Japanese version ofKirby: Right Back at Ya!.
Kirby: Squeak Squad[edit]
A track inKirby: Squeak Squad titled"The Legendary Halberd" features a remix of "Revenge of Meta Knight (Map)" in its intro, but switches to "The Legendary Air Ride Machine" soon after. It can be heard before the battle withMeta Knight and in some mechanical stages. It is first heard inJam Jungle - Stage 4.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[edit]
InKirby and the Rainbow Curse, an arrangement of "The Legendary Halberd" fromKirby: Squeak Squad can be unlocked by collecting one of theTreasure Chests found in theKirby + Kirby stage, to then be played in theMusic Room. Like the original version, "Revenge of Meta Knight (Map)" is only featured in the intro of the song.
Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]
InKirby: Planet Robobot, an arrangement of "Revenge of Meta Knight (Map)" titled"Return of Meta Knight" serves as the title theme forMeta Knightmare Returns. A portion of it is also used in the "Dedede's Tridimensional Cannon" theme as a connecting piece and as part of the beginning of the track. Both of these tracks are remixed byHirokazu Ando.
Kirby Battle Royale[edit]
InKirby Battle Royale, the "Return of Meta Knight" track fromKirby: Planet Robobot appears in the Music Collection as"Cake Royale 8" and is essentially a theme of Meta Knight in this game, playing in some of the cutscenes starring him duringDedede's Cake Royale, while it is replaced by "Brothers in Arms" after winning the Qualifier Battle against him.
Kirby Fighters 2[edit]
A remix of "Revenge of Meta Knight (Map)" plays in the epilogue of Chapter 4 ofStory Mode: The Destined Rivals, and in the prologue of the Final Chapter. This version features a short segment of "Kirby's Triumphant Return" at the beginning, and a part of "King Dedede's Theme" at the end.
Other appearances[edit]
Two arrangements of the theme feature in certain episodes of the Japanese version ofKirby: Right Back at Ya!. One such arrangement in the anime's 98th and 99th episodes, named戦艦ハルバード発進！ (Launch the Battleship Halberd!) onKirby & The Amazing Mirror Sound Plus, uses slightly different instrumentation and is a little faster. The biggest difference, however, is that after the song reaches its normal loop point, it instead transitions into an arrangement of "Air Ride: Fantasy Meadows", still in the same style.
The theme was one of the themes featured in the "Kirby Super Star Medley" at theKirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert, along with "Grand Opening", "Gourmet Race", "Crystal Area", "Vs. Marx", and "Kirby's Triumphant Return".
The original version of "Revenge of Meta Knight (Map)" is the fourth track featured in the "Revenge of Meta Knight Medley" inTaiko no Tatsujin.
