Punc is an enemy inKirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It appears as a spherical, black creature with two small, white eyes and two elongated, orange feet. Atop its head, it wears a green helmet, consisting of three sections, each with a thick, yellow spike protruding out from it. Its name is most likely from an abbreviation of "puncture".

First encountered in thefirst stage of Pop Star, Puncs wander back and forth, occasionally turning around, without posing much of a threat. WhenKirby gets too close to them, however, they pull the sections of their helmet around themselves, effectively curling up into a green and black ball, and begin rolling left and right within a set area, moving at a slightly faster pace than their walking speed. After a few seconds, they return to normal, but continue to repeat the process regularly as long as Kirby stays within their range.

Even while curled up, Puncs are vulnerable to any attack. Inhaling and swallowing them grants Kirby theNeedleability.

Trivia[edit]

  • If Kirby holds a Punc above his head and tosses it, it curls up into a ball while flying. This is a solely visual effect, however, and does not influence the enemy's behavior when thrown.
