He exposits briefly on the history of Dyna Blade, explaining that the giant bird only arrives once a century to lay a single egg and leaves shortly after it hatches. Later on, he joins Tiff and Tuff as they try to save Kirby from Dyna Blade's wrath after Kirby presumably ate the egg. | Curio's Curious Discovery | Primary character | Professor Curio is one of the leading characters in this episode. Here, he is leading an archaeological dig site in the Dream Land countryside while being assisted byTiff and company. They dig up a large coffin which Tiff is led to believe is a relic from ancient Cappy civilization, but Curio is strangely apprehensive about them discovering it. A short time later, a large crowd of Cappies arrive to see the coffin when King Dedede andEscargoon show up and open it to reveal what appears to be an ancestor of Dedede instead. Tiff tries to get an explanation from Curio as this appears to contradict what she learned from him before, but Curio reluctantly goes along with Dedede's narrative instead. Sensing something to be amiss, Tiff later shadows Professor Curio as he goes out at night with his digging tools to continue working, and catches him in the act of planting artifacts at the dig site that validate King Dedede's royal authority. Rather than confronting him right away, Tiff takes photos of Curio in the act and later pulls him aside during the exhibition the next day to implore him to come clean. Curio explains that his shop has few visitors and that he was about to go bankrupt, but King Dedede made him an offer to support his work if he validated the King's authority. He refuses Tiff's pleas for the time being and proceeds with the event. Later on, however, while trying to give a speech to the crowd on Dedede's behalf, he folds under the guilt and admits everything, shocking the crowd and enraging King Dedede. After King Dedede releases the monsterDedede Stone on everyone, Professor Curio tries to attack the monster using his pickaxe, but seems to have little effect. However, the small amount of chip damage he did creates shards of the monster that Kirby inhales to gain theStoneCopy Ability. Kirby uses this ability to defeat Dedede Stone, burying King Dedede and Escargoon in the resulting rubble. King Dedede and Escargoon plead with Curio to dig them out, but Curio refuses, saying that he is done digging up fakes. | "Oh let them get themselves out! He and the others try various schemes to see what the Waddle Dees are guarding in a nearby cave, including sending Kirby in there disguised as a Waddle Dee with a camera, though this ends up accomplishing very little. | Mabel Turns the Tables | Secondary character | In this episode, Professor Curio is watching Mabel's new prediction show and ends up picking an unlucky card. Mabel warns anyone who picked that card to not go outside that day, but Curio brushes off the warning as mere superstition and prepares to go to his archaeological dig site. In order to validate Mabel's prediction and on Samo's request,Tuff and the kids set up a trap for him by first causing him to slip on a banana peel and then roll a barrel at him which carries him out into the road, where Mayor Len inadvertently hits Curio with his car. This causes Curio to be sent flying back into his collection, destroying many of his artifacts and leaving him badly injured in the rubble. Curio is later seen being patched up by Doctor Yabui, and there he relays to Yabui and Mayor Len that Mabel's prediction of danger had come true. He had released this monster under the false belief that it would lead him to treasure, but this was a lie planted in the book by King Dedede. Throughout the episode, Curio becomes increasingly aloof as he switches between normalcy and possession, causing Tiff and Tuff to become concerned over his behavior. Later in the episode, Curio regains his senses for long enough to try and seal away the Mumbies for good using a special concoction that would be poured into the coffin, but Tuff interrupts this ritual, mistaking it to be Curio summoning the monster. After Curio explains everything, he goes with the others to watch as Kirby fights and eventually defeats the Mumbies. | "It wasn't until I re-examined that book today that I realized what the King had done! | A Chow Challenge | Secondary character | Professor Curio is present for much of this episode's proceedings. He is first seen outside Chef Kawasaki's restaurant whenChef Nagoya arrives, and is compelled by Chef Kawasaki to try and help him impress Nagoya by eating at his restaurant and trying to enjoy his food. Reluctantly, Curio agrees, and he and several others come in to dine. He and the others brace for the worst, but thanks to Tiff's directions in the kitchen, the food that Kawasaki makes actually ends up being agreeable to the group, much to their surprise. However, even this does not compare to Chef Nagoya's cooking, as they all fall head over heels for it. Later on, Curio is invited to be one of the judges for the cooking contest between Chef Kawasaki and Chef Nagoya at Castle Dedede. Despite Kawasaki not being the favorite to win, Escargoon makes sure of it by sabotaging Chef Kawasaki's cooking to make it more unbearably spicy with every meal. Curio and the others are dealt the blunt end of this spiciness throughout the event, being reduced to ash by the end.
