Princess Marona[Japanese title] is a guest character featured in theKirby novel series, and makes her guest appearance inKirby: Meta Knight and the Puppet Princess. She is the titular princess ofChiffon Star and only daughter of the king,Merengue XIII. She grew frustrated with the expectations laid upon her and was manipulated byBaron Gallic into abandoning the royal castle.Meta Knight resolves to rescue the princess, who comes to realize how much she cherishes her family and home.
Her name sounds somewhat similar to "macaron", a similarity that sources mispronunciations onKing Dedede's behalf.

Princess Marona is a young girl with cream fur and round blue eyes that resembles an anthropomorphic dog. She wears a pastel pink and yellow dress with a red shawl and a crown with a large pink ribbon on her head, a memento handed down from her deceased mother.
She is kindhearted and fond of sweet desserts and cute things. She used to keep up the gentle and sophisticated image of a perfect princess to please her father. However, she felt tired of this role, wishing for more freedom. She is actually headstrong and tomboyish, and she cares deeply about her loved ones.

InKirby: Meta Knight and the Puppet Princess, Princess Marona escapes the royal palace with Baron Gallic, who instigates her against her father, not before stealing the Royal Cake Factory's prized recipe book. Instilled with a hatred for sweets by theMalice Stone, she sets out to destroy all of Chiffon Star's cake stores. As Meta Knight searches for her, she begins thrashing her favorite cake store. Princess Marona comes back to her senses when she tastes some whipped cream she splattered. Baron Gallic then finds her and brings her back to his side.
Marona's next destination is the Royal Cake Factory. As she starts to destroy the factory, the head of the fruitcake division calls out to her. During the clash between the protagonists and Baron Gallic, Meta Knight leads the princess to safety. It's revealed that after the incident at the cake store she faked being mind controlled and was destroying the factory on her own volition, hoping to finally destroy her widely-known image of being a perfect princess. Meta Knight accepts her decision and leaves, much to her surprise, and she decides to return to Baron Gallic.
The Baron plans to assassinate her father, which unsettles the princess. She continues pretending to be under his control until the final clash at Baron Gallic's hideout, where she snatches the Malice Stone and throws it far away. She is soon kidnapped by the Baron, but she manages to crash the airship she is brought onto. When Baron Gallic finds the Malice Stone, Meta Knight falls under its control, but Marona snaps him out of it by reminding him of what matters most to him. After getting back to his senses, Meta Knight shatters the gem, putting an end to the Baron's evildoings.
As she traverses back home through the woods, Princess Marona resolves to return to the castle and follow her own rules. She reconciles with her father, who had felt she wasn't comfortable with her role. At the king's birthday party, Marona acts freely, much to the alarm of her maids. Curious about Meta Knight's whereabouts, she finds him in the garden. The Princess promises to study baking and become a renowned patissier, and the two bid each other farewell.
