"BOOM! I love that sound!" It's the guy with the eternal grin! He's off on an explosive adventure, but all he really wants to do is bring a little fun and fireworks into people's lives.
Poppy Bros. Jr. is a commonly reoccurringenemy in theKirby series, first appearing inKirby's Dream Land. He is a small humanoid figure who wears a clown suit with a cap similar to that ofSword Kirby's, though Poppy Bros. Jr.'s outfit is usually a pale blue in color.
Poppy Bros. Jr.'s role has varied greatly throughout theKirby series. In his oldest appearances, he provided noCopy Ability and was typically seen riding onGrizzos or balancing onapples andMaxim Tomatoes. Starting withKirby Super Star (and perhaps following in the footsteps of his older relative,Poppy Bros. Sr.), Poppy Bros. Jr. could be seen tossing bombs, and providing theBomb ability when swallowed. This game also had Poppy Bros. Jr. throw boomerangs, with this case resulting in Kirby gaining theCutter ability from him instead. InKirby 64: The Crystal Shards and every subsequent 3DKirby game, Poppy Bros. Jr. consistently provides the Bomb ability, having become themascot for said ability ever since.
Poppy Bros. Jr. first appeared inKirby's Dream Land. He can mainly be seen riding onapples andGrizzos, though he can be seen on his own. He is worth 400 points when defeated via a Star Bullet.

On the uppermost floor, three of them can be found emerging from doorways and heading toward unhatchedChicks. If they get to the eggs, they will kick them causing them to reset, but Kirby can knock them away for 500 points.

Kirby Super Star was the first game in the series to give Poppy Bros. Jr. weapons to use against Kirby. He can be seen with either a bomb or a boomerang, providing theBomb ability in the former case and theCutter ability in the latter. Despite these weapons, Poppy Bros. Jr. can also be found in more traditional roles, with no weapon or balancing on anapple. Poppy Bros. Jr. can also come in many different tunic colors. Poppy Bros. Jr. can be called as ahelper, gaining the moveset of Bomb Kirby and anInfinity Jump. In theKirby Super Star Ultra-exclusive modeRevenge of the King, Poppy Bros. Jr. is replaced by a similar enemy calledPerot.

Exclusive to this game, Poppy Bros. Jr. has a smaller, pointier hat as well as flat, round shoes, making him most closely resemble his artwork fromKirby's Dream Land.
Poppy Bros. Jr. appears inKirby Tilt 'n' Tumble, though not in his usual role. He rides along a bouncy ball in half-pipe areas moving back and forth, and will bounce Kirby if they collide, not able to harm Kirby directly. There are two varieties, with blue Poppys traveling in a smaller arc, and red ones covering the whole width of the half-pipe.
Poppy Bros. Jr. appears as an enemy only inLvl 6-2. In addition, two Poppy Bros. Jr.s appear alongside Kirby in the end-game cutscene that informs the player that they can now play theExtra Stage.
While not appearing as an enemy in the main mode, Poppy Bros. Jr. makes an appearance in one of the game's sub-games,Kirby Brawlball. Here, he is one of the random enemies that can be sucked intoMarx's Black Hole attack and spat out.

Poppy Bros. Jr. gains his biggest role inKirby Star Allies, as well as a redesign. Jr. has all of the same moves as Bomb Kirby, anInfinity Jump, and the ability to receive aPower Effect. When taking advantage of certain exploits, Poppy Bros. Poppy Bros. Jr. returns as an enemy inKirby and the Forgotten Land and itsNintendo Switch 2 Edition. Unlike past games, his bombs take on a different appearance, now black with red symbols (the symbols match the boss icon used inSuper Kirby Clash andKirby Fighters 2). The bombs can also roll down slopes. He once again provides the Bomb ability and has his ownfigure (though it lacks a description). Poppy Bros. Jr. also appears inStar-Crossed World alongside a stronger Crystal variant.
Poppy Bros. Jr. does not appear directly inKirby's Dream Buffet, but his likeness can be seen on twoCharacter Treats: the first has him depicted alongside Kirby and a Chick for the "Kirby's Pinball Land (1)" treat, and the other depicts his artwork as a friend with theBluster Bomb ability fromKirby Star Allies.

"Sometimes riding on Grizzos, other times balancing on apples or Maxim Tomatoes, this little clown clearly has some skills. Unfortunately, his job isn't to make people laugh—it's to get in Kirby's way. As you might expect from the "Jr." in his name, there's also a Poppy Bros. Sr., and he's a slightly bigger nuisance."
Poppy Bros. Jr. appears as a primaryspirit inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. The spirit can be obtained by battling it throughWorld of Light, theSpirit Board, or by purchasing it from theShop. It has level 1 stats of 544 attack and 362 defense, with level 99 stats of 2,721 attack and 1,814 defense. It is ★, attack-type, and possesses one spirit slot. Poppy Bros. Jr.'s spirit battle pits the player against twoYoung Links on theYoshi's Island stage who favor using their down special moves in the air and have increased power with that move.Bob-ombs are the only items that can appear during this battle.
Poppy Bros. Jr. makes a tiny cameo appearance as amonster in theKirby: Right Back at Ya! episodeCowardly Creature. He is shown briefly training as part of the "Young Monsters of the Future" program run by monster clowns, using a pair of roller skates.
In theKirby novel series, Poppy Bros. Jr. appears inKirby: Big Race in Pupupu Land! as one of the race's many contestants. He is always grouped with the other racers, and never stands out. The only time he is mentioned by the text is when the contestants encounterPeperon in the forest. Poppy Bros. Jr. turns pale and asks why such a monstrous creature is in Dream Land.
Poppy Bros. Jr. initially had different eyes, which resembled black dots with wedges in the middle like a more classic cartoon. In newer titles, his eyes look more like Kirby's, though they are slightly wider.
While Poppy Bros. Jr. serves as the tutorial to use Friend Hearts and create Friends inKirby Star Allies, he is not actually the first Friend Kirby can make in the game. If Kirby obtains theSword Copy Ability by swallowing theBlade Knight present in the room before the tutorial, and an input is made on a second controller, Kirby will create a befriended Blade Knight before being given the option to throw Friend Hearts.
