Poison apples are recurring poisonous projectiles, typically dropped byWhispy Woods and his relatives. Unlike regularApples and most other objects, these fruit may be dangerous toinhale, causing Kirby to take a small amount ofdamage when doing so, with some causing Kirby to be unable to spit them back out again afterward. Despite this, poison apples can be destroyed by other means without consequence.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror[edit]

Poison apples first appear inKirby & The Amazing Mirror, summoned as an attack byWiz. They roll toward Kirby and stun him with theSleep ability if he happens to swallow one.

Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]

Poison apples are occasionally dropped byWhispy's Revenge inRevenge of the King andThe True Arena in this game. Kirby takes damage from these as soon as he inhales them.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land /Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]

Purple poison apples can be dropped byWhispy Woods EX in bothExtra Mode andThe True Arena. Like inKirby Super Star Ultra, Kirby immediately takes damage after he inhales one.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]

InKirby Star Allies, poison apples do not appear, but there are two other types of poisoned fruit. The first is the pile of dirty fruit thatKing Dedede uses to hurl projectiles at Kirby and his allies during their fight inClash at Castle Dedede andThe Ultimate Choice. Under normal circumstances, Kirby takes damage as soon as he swallows the fruit after inhaling it. However, if the fruit is hit with anySplash-based attack, it will be cleaned and turned into ediblefruit which can recoverhealth. This dirty fruit pile also appears in the fight withParallel Dedede inHeroes in Another Dimension and The Ultimate Choice's Soul Melter EX difficulty, where it functions in much the same way.

The second type of poisoned fruit is the sickly purple cherries dropped byYggy Woods, which cannot be cleaned. Like with Dedede's rotten fruit pile, Kirby takes damage after he swallows the cherries he inhales. Notably, if Kirby swallows Yggy's golden cherry along with the poisoned ones, he will not take damage upon swallowing, instead simply gaining theFestivalCopy Ability as usual.
