This article is about the small round hiding enemy fromKirby's Dream Land 3, and should not be confused withPteran.
In-game sprite

Peran is an enemy found inKirby's Dream Land 3. It is a green, spherical creature with a pair of tiny eyes resembling black dots and a small, red mouth of a circular shape, as well as two round hands and feet. Its sprite furthermore shows a small tuft of hair growing on top of its head; however, this detail is absent from its official artwork.

WhenKirby encounters them, Perans are initially hiding behind the wallpaper of a wall in the stage's background. If he gets close to a Peran, however, it reveals itself by folding over a part of the wallpaper. Once fully visible, it attacks by spitting a globular blob of the same color as its body at Kirby, which can harm him on contact, but disappears as soon as it touches an obstacle.

Despite appearing to be in the background, Perans are vulnerable to any attack and can even be inhaled while they are visible, but grant noCopy Ability when swallowed. Jumping into a Peran from below causes it to be catapulted out of its hiding place, exploding when it hits the ground. Once defeated, a Peran does not respawn unless Kirby leaves and reenters the section.
