This article is about the enemy Parasol object. For theCopy Ability, seeParasol.
Parasol is anenemy in theKirby series resembling a red and white parasol that can be swallowed for theParasol ability. It is usually held by aWaddle Dee,Waddle Doo, orShotzo, enabling them to slow their fall. Prior to reaching the ground, the former two can be swallowed, enabling theParasol ability, rather than no ability or theBeam ability, respectively. These enemies most often let go of the Parasol once they land on the ground. After this, the Parasol will float up, hurting Kirby if he comes into contact with it. Sometimes they home in on Kirby.
Waddle Dees and Waddle Doos drop their Parasols upon touching the ground inKirby's Dream Land.
Parasols first appear inBubbly Clouds, being held byWaddle Dees,Waddle Doos,Shotzos, andBlatzys. If detached from the object it holds, the parasol will float upward, and can harm Kirby on contact. In theExtra Game, parasols will home in on Kirby once detached.
Parasols are worth 20 points when defeated.
Kirby's Adventure /Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land[edit]
Parasols appear again inKirby's Adventure, as well asits remake. Here, they are often held by Waddle Dees, though may also be held by Waddle Doos andShotzos. Here for the first time, swallowing them grants Kirby theParasol ability. In later stages, some Parasols home in on Kirby when released, like in the Extra Game ofKirby's Dream Land.
Enemies holding parasols can be found in the following levels and stages:

Parasol makes an appearance as a distinct enemy inKirby & The Amazing Mirror. Here, it can be seen being held by Waddle Dees, Waddle Doos, andShotzos. In the case of Shotzos, they use Parasols to gently glide down from the air and, upon landing, let the Parasols go, at which point they quickly rise into the air and vanish unless they hit Kirby or are attacked.
InKirby & The Amazing Mirror, Parasol can be found in the following rooms:
FromKirby: Squeak Squad and onward, Parasols would for the most part no longer be considered enemies in their own right, though they can still harm Kirby if he bumps into one that is detached and flying away. InKirby: Squeak Squad, the Parasol cannot be possessed using theGhost ability, and Ghost Kirby will simply pass through if he attempts to. If Kirby possesses a Waddle Dee or Waddle Doo who is holding a parasol, that enemy will immediately drop the parasol upon possession.
