How do you defeat that which is ethereal? Reborn from pure hate and the terrible power of a jet-black sky, Kracko lives again! Tasked with keeping the gate, Kracko is bigger, badder, and more dangerous than ever. Be warned...
— VS Parallel Big Kracko (English)

Parallel Big Kracko, titledUnearthly Thunderhead, is aboss who first appeared inHeroes in Another Dimension ofKirby Star Allies. This phase follows fromParallel Twin Kracko, and he is much larger than his non-parallelcounterpart.

Origin[edit]

Main article:Parallel Twin Kracko

Parallel Big Kracko is transformed from Parallel Twin Kracko merging into one after they are defeated, making their battle in the opposite order of that of the originalKracko andTwin Kracko. However, he may be Parallel Twin Kracko's true form.

The following Japanese Special Page mentions that Kracko's parallel counterpart was strangely born as twins first and that Parallel Big Kracko fights with the pride of being a gatekeeperboss sinceKirby's Dream Land. This detail is also present in the Chinese and Korean localizations.[1][2]

Translation: "It seemed strange that it started with the twins. Kracko revived with violent tenacity by the mighty power and grudge of black sky, and he might destroy the Another Dimension! Risking his pride of being the boss since the first time, Kracko starts the battle with his overflowing power!"

— VS Parallel Big Kracko (Japanese)

Parallel Woods, Parallel Twin Kracko/Parallel Big Kracko,Parallel Meta Knight andParallel Dedede are referred to as異界四天王いかいしてんのう (The Otherworldly Four Heavenly Kings).

Physical appearance[edit]

LikeParallel Twin Kracko, Parallel Big Kracko has a much darker color scheme thanKracko. Their bodies consist of black clouds with red spikes around and yellow eyes with red and black pupils. However, Parallel Big Kracko has grown considerably bigger in size due to absorbing his duplicate.

Boss battle[edit]

Screenshot of Parallel Big Kracko using one of his new attacks, which causes small clouds raining lightning to swirl through the stage.

Parallel Big Kracko appears in the following game modes:

ModeLevelHP
(Star Bullet = 52 or 78[note 1])
Notes
Heroes in Another DimensionDimension II1440He appears as theboss at the end of Dimension II.
Guest Star The Three Mage-SistersLevel 41440He replaces theTwin Kracko boss battle at the end of Level 4. After he is defeated inhis first phase, the two combine and grow larger than his originalcounterpart.
The Ultimate ChoiceSoul Melter EX1080He appears in the second half of the 4th battle.
  1. Increased star bullet damage for Heroes in Another Dimension or Soul Melter EX.

Parallel Big Kracko primarily fights very similar toKracko in that he swoops around the battlefield and unleashes electrical attacks. However, his large size makes dodging his attacks harder. Parallel Big Kracko also utilizes a variant of his bomb drop fromKirby's Dream Land (in the form ofPon & Con /Goldon & Silvox's fire bombs) and a new attack where he flies to the corner of the screen and creates a gust of wind pushing away from his body, while summoning small clouds from the background that drop lightning bolts.

The following table lists all of Parallel Big Kracko's attacks inKirby Star Allies. Attack names are conjectural unless otherwise noted.

Parallel Big Kracko's attacks inKirby Star Allies
AttackDescription
Enemy DropParallel Big Kracko shakes himself and drops either aWaddle Doo or aChilly into the arena. The enemies can be swallowed to gain either theBeam orIce abilities or spat back at Parallel Big Kracko to deal damage.
Beam WhipParallel Big Kracko turns gray and unleashes a swirl of two blue beam whips that spiral around his body for a short time. In the second phase, this attack is done twice, with Parallel Big Kracko moving to a different part of the stage for the second instance. Parallel Big Kracko suffers less damage and hit-stun when using this attack.
Body BlowParallel Big Kracko dives across the stage, in a maneuver that can be difficult to dodge. He can do this in one of three different ways.
Fire Bomb DropParallel Big Kracko flies to the top-left or top-right of the stage and drops bombs in three different positions from left-to-right or right-to-left before eventually exploding, leaving behind some flames for a short while. The bombs can be destroyed instantly withSplash, Blizzard orArtist attacks or swallowed for theFire ability. These bombs resemble the onesPon, Con,Goldon & Silvox use for their battles.
Lightning DropParallel Big Kracko turns black and unleashes a flurry of lightning bolts below his body as he travels surprisingly quickly across the stage. He does this twice in the second phase. The lightning cannot be outran unless either Kirby dashes as soon as Parallel Big Kracko starts charging up the attack and then slides when Parallel Big Kracko speeds up or makes use of a Copy Ability or Dream Friend that naturally moves faster when dashing. Parallel Big Kracko suffers less damage and hit-stun during this attack.
Second phase only
Windy ThunderstormParallel Big Kracko flies to a corner of the screen and then blows a strong gust of wind. As the wind blows, various thunderclouds swoop in from the background and strike the foreground with lightning. The wind eventually stops near the end of the attack. The blind spot is directly underneath Parallel Big Kracko, though it's difficult to stay underneath him for the entire duration of the attack unless they do so shortly before the wind starts howling.

Parallel Big Kracko initially attacks in this fixed order on loop as follows:

  1. Enemy Drop
  2. Beam Whip
  3. Body Blow [Ground Swoop]
  4. Fire Bomb Drop
  5. Body Blow
  6. Enemy Drop
  7. Body Blow [Ground Swoop]
  8. Enemy Drop
  9. Beam Whip
  10. Body Blow [W motion]
  11. Enemy Drop
  12. Lightning Drop

When his HP gets below 70%, his attack pattern abruptly changes to this fixed order on loop as follows:

  1. Windy Thunderstorm
  2. Body Blow [Ground Swoop]
  3. Enemy Drop
  4. Beam Whip
  5. Body Blow x2
  6. Body Blow [Ground swoop]
  7. Fire Bomb Drop
  8. Lightning Drop
  9. Body Blow [Ground swoop]
  10. Enemy Drop
  11. Body Blow [W motion]
  12. Fire Bomb Drop

Music[edit]

Parallel Big Kracko andParallel Woods (Phase 2) share the same battle theme. It is composed byYuuta Ogasawara and titled"The Dimension to Win".[3] It can be found as Track 189 in theJukebox.

This theme is a rock remix of "A Battle of Friends and Bonds 2", the regularboss battle theme (full version) ofKirby Star Allies.

Trivia[edit]

  • Due to the battle order,Parallel Twin Kracko has double thehealth ofKracko while Parallel Big Kracko has double the health ofTwin Kracko.
  • Parallel Big Kracko is the only boss of the four primary dimensions who bursts into nothingness after being defeated, with the other three being either subdued or forced to retreat. Despite this, it is unlikely that Parallel Big Kracko was actually destroyed, since he bears similarity to his normal counterpart, who tends to re-form again and again.
