"Mount Amberfalls" is a theme fromKirby Air Riders that primarily plays ineponymous Air Ride course. It also serves as the theme forSunset Shoreline inRoad Trip and theStadium contestOval Circuit. It was composed byShogo Sakai.[1]

Composition[edit]

A view of the sunset-lit mountain from a bridge.

"Mount Amberfalls" is an orchestral piece consisting of two contrasting sections: one somewhat tense part set in A minor, and a more peaceful one in B-flat and C major, both of which have a 4/4 time signature. Starting from the intro, the first section's instrumentation includes strong percussion, an electric guitar counterpoint, a lead synthesizer and strings, as well as episodic technically complex piano parts. The melody focuses on falling intonations, which combined with the key is somewhat similar to "Dark Clouds". The phrases are spaced out and end with descending scales, one of which has prominent dotted rhythm. The first section is reprised with added brass and harp glissandi. After this, a long transition to the second section begins, consisting of an accelerating pulsation and riser, then leading into rapid piano arpeggios and tremolos in B-flat minor which illustrate the flowing and crashing waterfalls.

The dominant function allows the key to seamlessly shift to the parallel B-flat major for the second section, where the melody is smoother and has predominantly rising intonations. Its lead instrumentation consists of a harmonious duet between the electric guitar and a high-pitched synthesizer. The percussion eventually doubles in pace as the melody is brought over to C major, where jazzy brass contributes to a livelier character. Wide intervals outline the harmonic core of the ending, which resolves in C major going up melodic sixth and seventh tones. After a well-established major section, the following dominant seventh chord of A minor comes unexpectedly through the alteration of C major's fifth tone. The pulsation of the first section is quickly restored, and the track loops from the latter half of the intro.
