Game appearances[edit]
Kirby Super Star /Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]

Moto Shotzo debuted inKirby Super Star and later appeared in itsremake. Although its name containsShotzo, the enemy does not resemble a traditional Shotzo much in behavior apart from its ability to fire cannonballs, primarily due to being mobile and destructible. Inhaling and swallowing a Moto Shotzo does not grantKirby anyCopy Ability. It is a somewhat rare enemy, only appearing in two stages of the game (with an extra appearance inKirby Super Star Ultra).

Kirby Mass Attack[edit]

In theKirby Mass AttackSub-GameKirby Quest, aKirby rides a Moto Shotzo in one of the Awesome Attacks while guiding a mechanical dragon with boxing gloves calledDragon Tank. This is in reference toTrax, the game from which Moto Shotzo's design derives; the mechanical dragon is the Stage 1 boss in that game.
Trivia[edit]

- Moto Shotzo's design is a reference to the playable tank fromTrax—known in Japanese as 突撃!ポンコツタンク (Totsugeki! Ponkotsu Tanku), roughly "Charge! Junk Tank"—an early 1991Game Boy game developed byHAL Laboratory before they worked on theKirby series.Masahiro Sakurai actually worked on animation and programming forTrax as one of his first assignments at HAL, and the regularShotzo's distinct spiraling bullets were taken from it.[1]
- Moto Shotzo is one of the few enemies inKirby Super Star Ultra whose appearance (in-game sprite) is exactly the same as it was inKirby Super Star.
- Cannons that resemble Moto Shotzo appear in theRocket Rumble minigame inKirby Battle Royale, but they are not confirmed to be the same.
