Mole Hole is the sixth of the seven stages inGrass Land inKirby's Epic Yarn andKirby's Extra Epic Yarn, and is the first EX stage. This stage first introduces theDiggerMetamortex transformation, as Kirby tunnels through the ground beneath Grass Land. To unlock this stage, aMole Patch fromFangora must be obtained by collecting at least 1100 beads during the fight.

Upon clearing the stage for the first time, theFirecracker Patch is obtained, allowing access to the next stage,Weird Woods.

Patch animation[edit]

After throwing the Mole Patch, it settles into a dedicated slot and an animation of a mole digging away brown wool below the level. The yarn above it falls down, giving access to the door.

Overview[edit]

The stage revolves around the Digger Metamortex transformation, as it is covered entirely in soft soil (in the form of dirty cotton) that is capable of being drilled. Kirby uses the Digger until the end of the stage, starting at the surface (near a vegetable patch) and eventually reaching theReel Gate deep underground. As he descends, beads can be found in the soil, often hidden behind it.

Following a trail of beads in the dirt

Kirby must be careful when digging, particularly around Denim Blocks, as these cancrush him if he isn't careful. However, if used carefully, they can dispatch the variousCandlemanders that crawl around and provide access to alternate paths. Along the way, Kirby encounters large, purple rocks which hide doors behind them, leading totreasures and more beads. If Kirby clears away much of the soft soil, he can find artwork showingPrince Fluff- andCappy-looking individuals collecting and cooking food.

Trivia[edit]

  • Mole Hole is one of two stages featuring hidden artwork behind the cotton, the other beingCool Cave.
    • In this stage, we see a crownlessPrince Fluff (likely meant to be an ancestor) thinking of food, finding a giant vegetable, and digging it up. Other figures join him, carrying other giant vegetables, and we see them cooking something. At the end of the stage, the dish that the Prince Fluff look-alike was thinking of in the first drawing is realized with giant proportions, much to his delight and that of the figures who helped him.
    • Other drawings include several vegetables and aDom Woole look-alike wearing a chef hat next to a heart.
