Milky Way Wishes: Staff Credits

"Milky Way Wishes: Staff Credits"[2] is the ending theme ofKirby Super Star. This theme plays in the credits after beatingMilky Way Wishes and is a well-knownKirby ending theme, along with "A New Wind for Tomorrow" fromKirby's Dream Land and "Ending Demo" fromKirby's Adventure. This theme was composed byJun Ishikawa,[1] a veteranKirby composer.
Composition[edit]

"Milky Way Wishes: Staff Credits" first starts with a slow lullaby-like intro in 3/4 time. After this slow intro, a D-note can be heard, the speed picks up and the time signature turns into standard 4/4 (the key also changes from D-flat major to G major). The theme then begins its "first verse", which contains a triumphant melody. The verse is repeated again, but with a differing lead instrument. After this, it plays the "chorus" of the theme, which is played by a synth-like instrument. It then plays the "second verse" which is identical to the first verse. It then does the chorus a second time, but then introduces a new portion that has a somewhat bittersweet melody played by a solo instrument. Afterwards, the "bridge" of the theme plays. This portion is played by a slightly different sounding instrument and also has chords in the backing of the theme. The bridge then changes to B-flat major and reprises the "Kirby's Triumphant Return" theme with a trumpet. Not too long afterwards, the theme then plays a portion of another well-knownKirby theme, "Green Greens", as the theme goes back to G major. It then plays three long notes with a synth-sounding instrument, the bass goes a few notes back down, and the theme loops back to the first verse.
Game appearances[edit]
Kirby Super Star /Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]
As stated above, this theme plays in the Staff Credits after beatingMilky Way Wishes. The ending theme inKirby Super Star Ultra differs, however, as the key has been moved a half-step lower (meaning it plays in F-sharp major as opposed to G major (C major as opposed to D-flat major in the beginning)). Additionally, in the same game, the song also plays in the Hidden Staff Credits, which plays after beatingMeta Knightmare Ultra.
Kirby Star Allies[edit]
An acoustic remix of this theme appears in a medley called "Best Friends, Today, Tomorrow, and Forever", a medley that also contains "A New Wind for Tomorrow" and "Ending Demo" fromKirby's Adventure. This medley was composed byHirokazu Ando and is the 184th song in theJukebox.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
The "bridge portion" of this theme can be heard in the remix of "Staff Credits - Kirby's Dream Land".
Kirby Air Riders[edit]
A new arrangement of the theme paired with "Green Greens" appears inKirby Air Riders, unlocked after clearing all 150 of theAir RideChecklist tasks. Once unlocked, it can freely be played back via theMusic Player or play duringCity Trial viaMy Music. This arrangement is simply called"Staff Credits (Kirby Super Star)". Like many new arrangements exclusive to My Music, it is written to synchronize with a 5-minute City Trial match.
Other appearances[edit]
An orchestral remix of this theme was made for theKirby Ultra Super Deluxe Original Sound Track, called銀河にねがいを:スタッフロール/オーケストラver. (Milky Way Wishes: Staff Credits / Orchestra ver.). This theme is the 36th and final track of the CD and was arranged byHirokazu Ando.
This theme was also present in theKirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert and theKirby 30th Anniversary Music Festival. In the former it is the last song to play in the concert by itself, and in the latter, it plays in a medley called "Kirby Endings" with otherKirby ending themes.
A full remix of the theme calledゴハンをたべてゆめをみて/銀河にねがいを:スタッフロール (Eating a Meal and Having a Dream / Milky Way Wishes: Staff Credits) is present onThe Sound of Kirby Café. The title of this arrangement is a reference to the flavor text for theStarship in the Japanese versions ofKirby Super Star andKirby Super Star Ultra, which includes the line「マルクのやぼうを さっさとくいとめ、ゴハンたべて ねよう。」 ("Let's take care of Marx's mad plan first, then eat a meal and take a nap."); this line isn't included in the English versions, but is often referenced in later material.
