| Born to Be Mild - Part II |  | Primary character | In this episode, Melman shows up at the hippodrome to tip Tiff and Tuff off that something bad has happened to Gus. He then follows the two back to Castle Dedede where they find Gus locked in the castle dungeon. Once Melman catches up, he pressures Gus to get into the race and redeem himself for having once been Fang's partner by defeating him. His cajoling ends up convincing Gus to come back to the coliseum with the group and get suited up for the race. Once Gus is out there battling with Fang, Melman excuses himself, which is only noticed by Meta Knight. A short time later, a mysterious biker known only as Steppenwolf appears in the ring and approaches Gus and Fang as they grapple. Steppenwolf uses his front wheel to break Fang's chain grip on Gus, and then uses Fang's chain against him to catch his bike's tire and take him down. This done, Steppenwolf quickly exits the arena by ramping off of Mayor Len's downed car and disappears. After the race ends, Tiff manages to catch Steppenwolf changing his attire back to that of Melman next to his burning bike. Melman makes Tiff promise not to reveal his secret identity and he wanders off into the countryside. | "Don't worry, Tiff. Fang may be plenty tough but Gus is a better biker." | This marks Melman's only leading role in an episode. |
