Mecha is aCopy Ability that debuted inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe as an addition to the base game, making its first appearance along withSand. With this ability,Kirby gains a futuristic helmet with a translucent visor similar to the one forJet Kirby, and also gains two mechanical fists and two giant cannons (which also function as a jetpack) on his back which are painted blue.

Kirby can use this gear to fire his Blaster Cannon at enemies using the cannons on his back, punch them up close with his Blazing Palm, release a Sizz-Zap Burst that can light up dark places, target skyborne enemies with Fireball Mortars, or place a Shock Bomb downwards. This ability also comes with a uniquedash andhover where Kirby uses his jetpacks.

Mecha is exclusively obtained fromMechamech, a new enemy added in the remake.

Description fromNintendo Today![edit]

  • Zap, burn, and smash your foes, then fire your cannon to blast them away!

Trivia[edit]

  • The armor Kirby gains when copying Mecha strongly resembles theGundam from theMobile Suit Gundam series, a giant battle robot that is heavily influential in Japanese pop culture. In particular, the design takes from the Gundam's pointed samurai-like helmet, primarily white-and-blue color scheme, blocky robotic fists, and back-mounted laser cannons.
    • For specific inspiration within theKirby series, however, Mecha Kirby's attacks seem to draw heavily fromMetal General, while also incorporating ideas presented in elemental attacks fromKirby Star Allies.
  • Mecha isKenta Nakanishi's favorite Copy Ability fromKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe.[1]
