Plot synopsis[edit]

The episode begins on a distant planet asKnuckle Joe does battle withMasher 2.0 and a band ofmonsters. Knuckle Joe is able to fend off all but Masher 2.0, who overpowers him and forces him to retreat. Back inDream Land,Meta Knight,Tiff,Tuff,Kirby,Sir Ebrum, andLady Like watch fromCastle Dedede as a storm approaches. Later that night, theMonster Delivery System activates itself and during their patrol,Sword Knight andBlade Knight notice this and decide to investigate, only to find Knuckle Joe unconscious and injured. While unconscious, Knuckle Joe dreams of giant spiked balls attempting to crush him from above. After seeing Kirby crushed by one,Knuckle Joe's father appears with his medallion as a spiked ball nears him from above. Knuckle Joe is startled and awakes from unconsciousness. Tiff and Kirby enter the room he is currently in to see how he is feeling. Knuckle Joe attempts to leave, but Kirby does not allow him to. Knuckle Joe finally decides to relax. The action is short-lived though, as he realizes that his medallion is missing.

Meanwhile, Meta Knight, Sword Knight, and Blade Knight investigate the throne room for clues on Knuckle Joe's pursuer. While doing so, Tuff discovers Knuckle Joe's medallion, but before he is able to show it to Meta Knight, they are all interrupted byKing Dedede andEscargoon. King Dedede notices the medallion Tuff is holding and demands that he shows it to him. Tuff attempts to escape but is quickly stopped by Escargoon who grabs the medallion. Escargoon discovers a memory chip hidden within it, and after they recognize the medallion, King Dedede and Escargoon decide to examine it. Meta Knight then sends his apprentices to search elsewhere for Knuckle Joe's pursuer. While he lays in bed, Knuckle Joe explains Masher 2.0's return to Tiff, he also reminds her of hispast encounter with the giant menace. Knuckle Joe then makes up his mind to find his medallion, but Meta Knight tries to intercept and persuade him to stay. In spite of this, Knuckle Joe departs.
Presumably, in the basement of Castle Dedede, Escargoon examines the data on the memory chip, discovering a blueprint for a device that magnifies its user's strength in the process. King Dedede explains ways that the device could be used to Escargoon, and that he is to build it immediately. During their search, Sword Knight and Blade Knight encounter Masher 2.0, who seems uninterested in the knights. They attempt to strike it but fail miserably. Knuckle Joe then enters the battle and Masher 2.0 readies its flail after noticing. Knuckle Joe dodges Masher 2.0 attacks, landing a blow to its visor, but Masher 2.0 quickly recovers. Tiff and Kirby then arrive on the scene and Tiff calls for theWarp Star. Masher 2.0 prepares to crush Knuckle Joe, but Kirby swoops in on the Warp Star and rescues him. Their flight is brief though, as Kirby smashes into one of the stone pillars located in the area.

Back at Castle Dedede, Escargoon completes the glove-like device and explains to King Dedede that it will not work unless a gem is inserted into it. King Dedede then recalls where some are located. In Escargoon's room, King Dedede pulls out Escargoon's secret stash of gems and states that he will use them for the device. While walking down the halls, the gems and the device are stolen from them by Tuff,Fololo & Falala. Meta Knight pulls up in theRoyal Racecar and the group races off towards the battle. Kirby and Knuckle Joe are struggling with Masher 2.0 until Meta Knight arrives and Tuff hands Knuckle Joe the device. Knuckle Joe then fires a attack at Kirby so to grant him theFighterCopy Ability. While Knuckle Joe prepares the device with a gem, Kirby distracts Masher 2.0 on the Warp Star. After it is prepared though, all of Knuckle Joe's attempts to fire with the device fail.
Masher 2.0 then spreads its before-now retracted wings on its back. It rises into the sky using these and fires a devastating beam that ravages the area. The group breaks free from the rock debris unharmed, but quickly realize that all the gems were destroyed. Tuff then gives Knuckle Joe his medallion that he reclaimed earlier. Knuckle Joe places it in the device and prepares himself as Masher 2.0 charges its beam once more. Knuckle Joe fires back and the beams meet with each-other. Knuckle Joe is knocked off his feet, but Kirby quickly jumps down and regains Knuckle Joe's stance. The beams struggle against each-other until Masher 2.0 is overwhelmed and destroyed. The medallion fades away after, allowing its strength to belong to Knuckle Joe. The episode ends as Tiff happily rejoins the rest of the group.

- No major scenes were removed in the international version. However, very minor scenes were cut due to time restraints.

- In the Japanese version, when King Dedede andEscargoon find the memory chip, they plan to sell it toNight Mare Enterprises, rather than in the English version, where they plan to use it to transform creatures into monsters.
- In the Japanese version, Sword Knight shows annoyance at Masher 2.0's disinterest in them, rather than stating that it is only interested in Knuckle Joe.
- In the Japanese version, Knuckle Joe is mostly silent as he remindsTiff of Masher 2.0's past form, rather than explaining what he did at the time through most of it.
