| “ | What remains of Magolor is a sad shell. He's possessed by thelimitless power of the Master Crown, imprisoned by thehatred andobsessions of prior rulers. Now...defeat it and freeMagolor's soul! | ” | — VS Magolor Soul Special Page fromKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe's Extra Mode |
Magolor Soul is the final boss ofExtra Mode andThe True Arena inKirby's Return to Dream Land and its remake,Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, fought afterMagolor EX is defeated. He is based onthe form thatMagolor takes as the final boss of the main story; however, he is now a very dark teal color and wears a more elaboratecrown with a spikier build. Additionally, while the original form only shows the third eye in his mouth once the second phase begins, Magolor Soul shows it from the start. Most of his attacks in this form are the same as the ones he uses in the second phase of his battle in Story Mode. However, they now do more damage or look different, such as his Deadly Needles now having thorns and being done in different locations. He also gains a new attack that combines the attributes of theGrand Hammer andSnow BowlSuper Abilities.
Attacks[edit]
Extra Mode[edit]
| “ | A sad shell possessed by thelimitless power of the Master Crown, no more than a manifestation of the crown itself. | ” | — VS Magolor Soul Special Page fromKirby's Return to Dream Land |

Compared to hisStory Mode counterpart, all of Magolor Soul's attacks are souped up, and he has a few new ones.
The following lists all of Magolor Soul's attacks he uses in his Extra Mode battle in both versions, as well as The True Arena in the original Wii version.
Although not officially considered an attack, if Kirby still held on to the Ultra Sword Super Ability from the last fight, Magolor Soul begins the battle by sending a shockwave that immediately removes the ability and destroys it. The shockwave deals no damage but does deal knockback and can cause other player Kirbys to lose their ability.
| Attacks - Magolor Soul | |
|---|---|
| Attack | Description |
| ブラックホール Black Hole | This is Magolor Soul's first attack only if Kirby still had Ultra Sword from the previous fight, otherwise it's only used in phase 2. Magolor Soul opens an unguardable black hole in an attempt to suck Kirby or his friends in, all the while causing the entire background to swirl around it in the original Wii version. If Kirby is caught, he will take massive unavoidable damage. |
| コーリングショット Calling Shot | Magolor Soul conjures, then juggles three, four or five random enemies, some with Copy Abilities, before tossing them at lethal velocity at Kirby. The first enemy will always carry the ability Kirby ditched for the Super Abilities in the previous battle (or a hammer if he hadHammer, and otherwise aHalcandle Dee if he didn't have an ability). InDeluxe, the throwing speed is much faster than in the original Wii version. |
| キルニードルワープ Deadly Needles Warp | Magolor Soul conjures rifts at various positions, which shoot out spikes. Faster and with more patterns than in Story Mode. Can be done either once or three times in a row. |
| 魔力球 Magic Spheres | Magolor Soul conjures and tosses orbs of black energy from varying positions. These can be deflected or inhaled. More of them than in Story Mode. |
| マホロア砲ワープ Magolor Cannon Warp | Magolor Soul fires a laser beam into a rift, which then systematically fires across the entire stage and air, leaving stars on its last strikes. The firing patterns are different and harder to dodge compared to Story Mode. |
| ワープホールアタック Warp Hole Attack | Magolor Soul travels into a rift, then exits one on the stage in an attempt to ram Kirby, then going into another rift to do it again. In the second phase, this attack is only performed after the screen is flipped upside-down. InDeluxe, Magolor Soul moves much faster between rifts compared to the original Wii version. |
| アナザーディメンション Another Dimension | Magolor Soul jumps into the background and draws a stencil, the solid parts of which transpose onto the stage as a wall of pain. The shapes are more complex and leave less open space. |
| マホロア砲 Magolor Cannon | Magolor Soul fires a giant laser beam that covers the entire stage, creating stars where it hits. The laser beam fires much faster and is bigger than in Story Mode. |
| Second phase only | |
| ギガトンスノーハンマー GrandSnowHammer | Magolor Soul slams a giant icy hammer into the ground, creating a shock wave similar to Kirby'sGrand Hammer that leaves behind spikes. While the spikes are out, seven icicles fall from the top of the arena in semi-random locations. After the last one falls and breaks, the spikes disappear but the floor remains slippery for the duration of the next attack. |
| ウルトラソード Ultra Sword | Magolor Soul takes out two black swords resembling Meta Knight'sGalaxia, and swings them one at a time in a manner similar to Kirby's Ultra Sword. He then finishes by swinging them both at once, with the only safe zone being the very middle of the stage. Stars are left behind where the swords are swung down. |
| ドラゴストーム Monster Flame | Magolor Soul conjures dark fire dragons, which he directs across the stage, leaving stars in their wake. Magolor Soul's position in the background indicates where the dragons will intersect each time. Compared to Story Mode where the dragons attack from horizontal positions, the dragons in Extra Mode attack from vertical positions. |
| ミラクルビーム Flare Beam | Magolor Soul charges up, and then flies around the stage in an orb of dark energy, while another empty orb does the same, similar to Kirby's Flare Beam. Only the orb Magolor Soul is in has Magic Spheres orbiting it. |
| Screen Flip[conjectural title] | After using four Super Ability attacks in a row, Magolor Soul jumps into the background and flips the screen orientation, making it more difficult for the player to discern direction correctly. He flips the screen right-side up after attacking with either Deadly Needles Warp once, Warp Hole Attack or Another Dimension, followed by two sets of Magic Spheres. |

If Kirby loses to him enough times, then Magolor Soul will occasionally throw out one set of Magic Spheres after certain attacks in both phases, presumably to give players ammunition for a Kirby without copy abilities and/or so players can land more hits on him. In phase 1, he'll summon one set after each Calling Shot, while in phase 2, he'll summon one set after every Grand Snow Hammer attack. Instances of this happening are marked with a * symbol in the provided attack orders below.
Assuming Kirby still held on to Ultra Sword at the start of this battle, Magolor Soul will always start with a Black Hole attack. Otherwise, for phase 1, he will always start with a Calling Shot (and throw out one set of Magic Spheres if Kirby lost enough times) before attacking in this fixed order on loop as follows:
- Deadly Needles Warp x3
- Magic Spheres x2
- Magolor Cannon Warp
- Warp Hole Attack
- Another Dimension
- Magolor Cannon
- Magic Spheres x3
- Deadly Needles Warp
- Calling Shot
- Magic Spheres*
- Warp Hole Attack
- Magolor Cannon
- Another Dimension
In phase 2, Magolor Soul attacks in this fixed order on loop as follows:
- Grand Snow Hammer
- Magic Spheres*
- Ultra Sword
- Monster Flame and Flare Beam [in either order]
- Screen Flip
- Deadly Needles Warp, Warp Hole Attack or Another Dimension
- Magic Spheres x2
- Screen Flip

The True Arena[edit]
| “ | The one-eyed wreathgrants power butswallows the soul... Itdevours, stealing any sense of self... Truly, thiscrown rules all. Free him from this nightmare! Take his hand andsave a new friend! | ” | — VS Magolor Soul Phase 1 Special Page from The True Arena inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe |
Exclusively inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Magolor Soul's battle in The True Arena is drastically different compared to the Extra Mode version. All of his attacks have been further souped-up in power and he also has two new attacks. The battle music is now "Supreme Ruler's Coronation - OVERLORD" fromKirby Star Allies, rather than "C-R-O-W-N-E-D". This time, much likeHR-D3, he has two separate health bars.
The following tables list all of Magolor Soul's attacks he uses in his True Arena battle across both phases inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe.
| Magolor Soul True Arena attacks - Phase 1 | |
|---|---|
| Attack | Description |
| マホロア砲 Magolor Cannon | Magolor Soul charges up and then fires two giant laser beams stacked on top of each other that almost cover the entire stage, creating stars where they hit. The blind spots are directly underneath and above Magolor Soul. |
| ワープホールアタック Warp Hole Attack | Magolor Soul travels into a rift, then exits one on the stage in an attempt to ram Kirby, then going into more sets of rifts to do it again. Instead of two sets going across at the top and bottom of the screen, there's four sets at the top, both diagonal directions and the bottom. Additionally, there's no blind spots at the far sides of the screen for the horizontal sets and Magolor Soul flies through the dimensional rifts faster than in Extra Mode. |
| キルニードルワープ Deadly Needles Warp | Magolor Soul conjures rifts at various positions, which shoot out spikes. Once the final rifts close, stars are left behind. Can either be done once, twice or three times in a row. If doing one set, Magolor Soul will leave the rifts open while performing two sets of Magic Sphere attacks. If three sets are done in a row, then sometimes the rifts open roughly where Kirby is currently standing. |
| 魔力球 Magic Spheres | Magolor Soul conjures and tosses two sets of black energy orbs from the center of the arena. These can be deflected or inhaled. Different patterns from Extra Mode are utilized, including variants with larger spheres. |
| ブラックホール Black Hole | Magolor Soul opens two unguardable black holes opposite each other in an attempt to suck Kirby or his friends in. If Kirby is caught in one of them, he will take massive unavoidable damage. |
| コーリングショット Calling Shot | Magolor Soul conjures, then juggles seven random enemies or projectiles, some with Copy Abilities, before tossing them at lethal velocity at Kirby. The enemies and projectiles that are juggled and sent towards Kirby are bigger than in Extra Mode. |
| マホロア砲ワープ Magolor Cannon Warp | Magolor Soul charges up and then fires a laser beam into a rift, which then systematically fires in a rectangular formation across the entire stage before firing one last beam straight in the center of the arena that leaves stars behind. |
| アナザーディメンション Another Dimension | Magolor Soul jumps into the background and draws a stencil, the solid parts of which transpose onto the stage as a wall of pain. This attack repeats two more times, with a different stencil pattern each time. |
In phase 1, Magolor Soul attacks in a fixed order on loop as follows:
- Magolor Cannon
- Warp Hole Attack
- Deadly Needles Warp
- Magic Spheres
- Black Hole
- Calling Shot
- Magolor Cannon Warp
- Deadly Needles Warp x3
- Magic Spheres
- Another Dimension
- Deadly Needles Warp x2

| “ | Kirby... Ugh! I hate having to rely on you, and your vacant stare when I revealed my grand plan was truly insulting. Well, let's see if you can break this thing on my head. If you can, then someday...hee hee heee...I may get to toy with you again! | ” | — VS Magolor Soul Phase 2 Special Page from The True Arena inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe |
Once his health bar is depleted, Magolor Soul's top two eyes disappear—leaving only the third eye in his mouth intact—and the body then coughs out an apple that can be eaten by Kirby or friends to replenish some lost health before it disappears. After a few seconds, the Master Crown-controlled Magolor Soul abruptly surges with more power as his health bar refills back to full and the fight continues. Shortly after he starts attacking again, Magolor's voice can be heard in the background, calling for Kirby to help him.
| Magolor Soul True Arena attacks - Phase 2 | |
|---|---|
| Attack | Description |
| Sand Storm[conjectural title] | Magolor Soul summons two sand cyclones and then sends them both into the foreground one after another. The cyclones cannot be guarded and must instead be avoided. Stars are left behind after the cyclones dissipate. |
| Mecha Blaster[conjectural title] | Magolor Soul summons two launchers and then fires three sets of giant blue fireballs from the background, leaving behind pools of flame when they hit the ground. Afterwards, Magolor Soul charges up and then fires two giant laser beams that start at ground level before quickly sweeping straight up after the fact. Stars are left behind after the laser sweep. |
| ミラクルビーム Flare Beam | Magolor Soul charges up, and then flies around the stage in an orb of dark energy, while two empty orbs do the same. Only the orb Magolor Soul is in has Magic Spheres orbiting it. |
| ドラゴストーム Monster Flame | Magolor Soul conjures dark fire dragons, which he directs across the stage, leaving stars in their wake. This time, two dragons attack at the same time for the first two sets, one horizontal and the other vertical. For the final set, four dragons attack at once, two horizontal and two vertical. To compensate, the charge-up time is longer than in Extra Mode and Magolor Soul's position in the background indicates the point in which the fire dragons intersect with the others. |
| Screen Flip[conjectural title] | Magolor Soul jumps into the background and flips the screen orientation, making it more difficult for the player to discern direction correctly. He flips the screen right-side up after performing two more attacks. |

Trivia[edit]
- Magolor Soul is the only Soul boss in the series that can be fought in more than one mode — namely,Extra Mode andThe True Arena. All other Soul bosses are exclusive to one mode. As a result, the only boss exclusive to The True Arena inKirby's Return to Dream Land isGalacta Knight. This also applies toKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, even though Magolor Soul's True Arena battle in that game differs in many ways compared to Extra Mode.
- A sphere in the background of Magolor Soul's battle is specifically altered for the True Arena battle inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe to strongly resembleVoid Termina's Final Core, with the model and textures reused fromKirby Star Allies.
- InKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, the Japanese pause screen description of Magolor Soul's first phase in The True Arena describes the Master Crown as "continuously sipping upon Magolor's leaking soul" (したたる ソウルを啜り続け). The specific use of the word "sipping" is a reference toMorpho Knight's Japanese descriptions inKirby and the Forgotten Land, which describe it as "sipping dreams" (夢啜る) and "sipping upon the most powerful soul" (最も強い ソウルをすすり).
