This article is about Magolor in his general video game context. For other uses of Magolor, seeMagolor (disambiguation).
“
Hi there! My name isMagolor. I'm fromanother dimension, but I just love Planet Popstar. I can't get enough of it! Things got a bit hectic when I first arrived, but that's all in the past, thanks to Kirby.
In his debut inKirby's Return to Dream Land, Magolor crashes the Lor Starcutter intoDream Land and scatters its parts andEnergy Spheres all over PlanetPopstar.Kirby and his friends aid Magolor by collecting these pieces to repair the ship, and he thanks them by taking the group to his homeworld, Halcandra. Once there, they are attacked by the guardian angelLandia, and Magolor requests that Kirby and his team defeat the dragon. When Landia is beaten, however, Magolor steals the dragon'sMaster Crown—revealing that he was after this powerful object the whole time—and then uses it to transform into a menacingfinal boss, aiming to rule over the entire universe. With help from Landia, Kirby and friends defeat him. The crown is shattered, Magolor returns to his normal state, and after making his way through another dimension, he eventually makes amends with Kirby.
Magolor is a small, ellipsoid being who possesses disembodied hands, but no feet. He wears a blue hood with yellow and white accents. The rim of the hood, as well as the pattern on his body, resembles the design of a gear, which matches the motif of the Energy Spheres for the Lor Starcutter. His face consists merely of two yellow eyes on a brown surface, the rest presumably being covered up by his scarf-like belt. The belt itself seems to wrap around his entire body, covering some of his face, and has a small yellow-fringed cape that extends around most of the circumference.
Magolor also has a notable number of alternate outfits. As Shopkeeper Magolor, Magolor's cloak bears a simpler woven look, eschewing the gear fringes and yellow accents, and takes on a primarily green and white hue. As Manager Magolor, he wears his usual colors, but with a large top hat and bow tie, and his cape is modified to look more like a tailed coat. Lastly, inMagolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler, he wears a monochrome version of his usual outfit, with a knotted belt and a tattered cape, as well as a tear in his cloak revealing one of his ears.
Magolor is able to float freely in the air. There does not appear to be a limit to how high Magolor can float off the ground, but he still prefers to hover only a few inches above it at most times. This ability is directly tied to his magical power; when he loses his powers in Magolor Epilogue, he is only able to jump and glide a paltry distance. Atop his head, he has two pointy ears which resemble those of a cat to a degree — his Magolor Epilogue appearance indicates that these ears are part of his body and not just his cloak. On the officialJapaneseKirby Twitter account, one illustration featuring feline characters implies Magolor is also catlike with his pointed ears.
When Magolor first arrives on Popstar, he appears to be friendly and cordial, and easily convinces Kirby and friends to help him in his plight to recover his ship's Energy Spheres. As revealed later in the story, this act was a charade; he is cleverly able to feign grief and joy in order to get people to do what he wants. Combined with his tendency to outright lie, this allowed him to take advantage of Kirby's hospitality, leading him to the Master Crown.
Initially, it appears that Magolor's only goal is to rule the entire universe with the power of the Master Crown, but dialogue prior to his reveal makes it ambiguous as to whether he genuinely appreciated Kirby or only saw him as a pawn for his goals (in particular, he sincerely thanks Kirby for helping him repair the Lor while explaining his plan). Extra dialogue added inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe has Magolor share with Kirby his dream of building an amusement park, which seems to be a genuine desire, as he has built multiple such parks after his redemption.
Regardless of intent, Magolor's desires become twisted over time, thanks to the parasitic power of the Master Crown. The pause screen description forMagolor Soul in Extra Mode indicates that he eventually loses control of his actions and becomes "[a] sad shell possessed by the limitless power of the Master Crown, no more than a manifestation of the crown itself". Additional context provided in the True Arena ofKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe indicates that the Master Crown has been devouring Magolor's soul, and that he is aware of this process, begging Kirby to help him.
After being freed from the crown's grasp by Kirby and his friends, and then battling his way through other dimensions and destroying the Master Crown, Magolor has atoned for his misdeeds. To make up for the trouble he caused, he builds an amusement park filled with new challenge courses inNew Challenge Stages. In the same Sub-Game, he seems to have a friendly rivalry with Kirby, as seen during the races with him; the two of them part ways on amicable terms in the credits sequence.
Magolor is often melodramatic, and even when he is trying to act evil and intimidating (as seen after his Master Crown-induced transformation), he usually can't get the emotion right. He also appears to have an ego about him and is obsessed with challenges, particularly races. He often gloats when he is in the lead, which usually leads to him slowing down and getting passed up, to which he will then get angry and speed up. If he wins a race, he revels in his victory, but if he loses, he sulks. He is shown to enjoy pranks and practical jokes; during one segment of "C-R-O-W-N-E-D: Reprise" inDedede's Drum Dash Deluxe, he covers the screen with a blindfold banner and laughs ifKing Dedede falls into a pit, and inTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe andSuper Kirby Clash, he pretends to betray Team Kirby upon purchasing all of his equipment (though he clarifies that he's only joking). Overall, he can be seen as a reformed villain with hints of trickery still buried within him.
Magolor appears to be a skilled technician and wizard, as he claims that upon initially excavating the Lor from Halcandra, it was in bad shape and he had to repair it. He has several magical skills (such as teleporting and summoning items) even without the Master Crown's influence, though his powers are greatly enhanced by it. His building and summoning skills are apparent in New Challenge Stages, as he was the one who built all the courses that Kirby played through, and he summons a myriad of foes during the races. His industriousness is also on display when he sets up aGem Apple cart inTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe andSuper Kirby Clash. He seems to have little patience, as shown inKirby's Return to Dream Land, its remake, and theKirby Clash games, where talking to him repeatedly will cause him to become annoyed and tell Kirby to get back to his adventure.
Outside of the video game series proper, Magolor is often used as a representative for news onKirby series titles, mainly for theKirby Clash series. Occasionally he interacts with other characters, such asThe Three Mage-Sisters, with whom he appears to have a rocky relationship. Magolor is also often depicted in supplementary material associating withMarx, who shares a similar role and personality with him. As the final bosses of their respective games, they share similar attacks, even identical black hole and laser beam attacks. They also appear together in aStone transformation inKirby: Triple Deluxe and onetitle screen animation ofKirby Star Allies, acknowledging the similarities between the two.
In the Japanese versions of the games, Magolor is implied to speak with a foreign accent, as many words in his dialogue are spelled withkatakana where one would normally usehiragana. Katakana is the syllabary used primarily for foreign words, and using it in place of hiragana (which is used for native words) implies foreign pronunciation, as if the speaker is unfamiliar with the language.
Main antagonist, final boss, and playable character
Reprises his role fromKirby's Return to Dream Land. Additionally, he serves as the titular main protagonist and sole playable character inMagolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler. He also has roles as a supporting character in Story Mode (Helper Magolor) and as the organizer ofMerry Magoland (Manager Magolor).
Magolor sulks upon seeing his ship wrecked and its parts scattered as Kirby and his friends observe.
Magolor sets the primary objective ofKirby's Return to Dream Land, when he crashes into the countryside ofPopstar in theLor Starcutter, shedding most of the ship's pieces in the process. Upon discovering Magolor in the wreck,Kirby and his friendsKing Dedede,Meta Knight, andBandana Waddle Dee agree to help the stranded alien by scouring the planet collecting the pieces. One-by-one, the four adventurers restore the pieces to the ship until it is back in working order.
To thank Kirby for this task, Magolor takes him and his friends to his "homeworld", the broken planetHalcandra. After crossing dimensions, the ship prepares to land in a desolate plain on the planet's surface when it is shot down by fireballs. After regaining composure, Magolor identifies the source of the aggression as a giant four-headed dragon namedLandia. Magolor begins to despair at this threat, but Kirby and his team reassure him and agree to defeat the dragon.
When Landia falls, amysterious glowing crown falls from one of his heads. As Kirby and his friends celebrate their victory, Magolor appears without warning and congratulates them with a mysterious stillness. He then takes the crown and places it on his head, revealing that he had fabricated the entire scenario in order to obtain this "source of limitless power". Magolor transforms into afrightening ethereal being and promises to conquer the universe, starting withPopstar. He leaves Kirby and his team through a dimensional rift, intent on stranding them onHalcandra, but Landia assists Kirby and his team by pursuing Magolor through the rift.
Eventually, Kirby and his team catch up to Magolor and do battle with both him and his ship. After anUltra Sword struggle and a tough fight, Magolor is eventually defeated, having been mutated intoa horrid magical specter by the crown in the process. The Master Crown shatters and Magolor vanishes after being restored to his normal form. He is not seen again for the remainder of the game, but he apparently survives and later makes amends with Kirby.
Anyway... MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The time has come for your planet... No! The time has come for the ENTIRE UNIVERSE to bow down to me. And for being such a big help in all of this, your planet gets to go first! Prepare to bow, Popstar! Welcome your new overlord!
”
— Magolor inKirby's Return to Dream Land
The alliterative first letter of every level's name (shown in bold in-game), fromCookie Country toDangerous Dinner, spelled out in order, is CROWNED, hinting at Magolor's betrayal. "C-R-O-W-N-E-D" is also the name of the theme that plays in the second part of Magolor's fight. In addition, when Kirby has collected all 120 Energy Spheres and talks to Magolor in the Lor Starcutter inExtra Mode, he may have one of the following conversations (he doesn't reveal as much in Main Mode):
Magolor will explain the origin of the Lor (claiming he excavated it) and the power of theMaster Crown, and urge Kirby to defeat Landia so he can get the crown to rule the universe.[3][4]
Magolor will mention he knew about Kirby long before they met. He will also claim he knows somebody who knows Kirby very well. Ironically, he will say"Nothing good comes of fighting" in the end.[5][6]
Once they catch up to where Magolor has gone, he summons theLor Starcutter to do battle with them, ironically using each of the parts that were recovered to do various attacks. After the Lor is shot down, Magolor makes his getaway, and the team pursues Magolor himself, who proceeds to knock each one of them out of the air. On the ground, Kirby and his friends then must fight Magolor hand-to-hand in his souped-up form. During this fight, Magolor demonstrates the Master Crown's power with a variety of unending magical attacks, including throwing spheres of dark energy and openingrifts to try and suck Kirby into a realm of pain, even resorting to creating a star-shaped Magic Barrier when his health is nearly depleted. Kirby has to break through the shield by using his various Super Abilities and then finish Magolor off with the Ultra Sword.
Unfortunately, even this is not enough, as the Ultra Sword attack causes the Master Crown to surpass its limitless power, thus allowing it to reincarnate and take further control of Magolor intoan even larger, ghastly form, known asMagolor Soul in Extra Mode. He opens the second phase by immediately dispelling Kirby's Ultra Sword ability (assuming he still has it when that part of the battle begins), and then displays even more ludicrously powerful attacks, including his own versions of the Super Abilities that Kirby had been using throughout the game. Once he is defeated again, he finally dispels slowly and reverts to Magolor's original form. The Master Crown levitates off his head and shatters, leaving Magolor to warp toa realm between dimensions, ending his role in the game's storyline.
Magolor is the host of theNew Challenge Stages section ofKirby's Dream Collection Special Edition and is apparently friends with Kirby there, pointing out that "things got a bit hectic" the last time he appeared. At the end of each world of this Sub-Game, Kirbyraces against Magolor using the ability of his choice, while Magolor summons obstacles for Kirby to try to avoid. Amusingly, even though Magolor set up these races, he still feels sullen if Kirby beats him.

Magolor does not have a role in this game, but his likeness is seen in several different locations.
InStage 3 ofWild World, a portrait of Magolor can be seen in the background during the fight with theKing Phanta.
One of Kirby'sStone transformations depicts Magolor along withMarx.
The third-to-lastKeychain depicts an 8-bit rendering of Magolor, which is the same rendering as the statue fromKirby's Dream Collection Special Edition.
Magolor appears in the audience during theKirby Master video.
Magolor makes a brief appearance holding a blindfold banner in the C-R-O-W-N-E-D (reprise) stage.
InDedede's Drum Dash Deluxe, Magolor makes a brief appearance in theC-R-O-W-N-E-D (reprise) stage, covering certain drums using a blindfold banner near the end of the stage. His likeness also appears shortly after that point in the same stage as a hiddenKeychain.
AMiiverse post explains that, in addition to building theNew Challenge Stages, Magolor also built the Drum Dash courses.
As inKirby: Triple Deluxe, Magolor does not appear directly inKirby: Planet Robobot. His likeness can however be found in a Stone transformation, as well as a number ofstickers.
Magolor, referred to asShopkeeper Magolor, makes an appearance in this expandedSub-Game, here wearing a green robe and doing business throughMagolor's Shoppe. He sells Kirby various bits of equipment, including new weapons and armor for each role, as well as potions and other items.
Shinya Kumazaki explained a bit about Magolor's role in the game in the July 2017 issue ofNintendo DREAM. He was chosen as the shopkeeper to add a sense of familiarity to the process of transacting real money, a new element for this game, as well as being fitting for his character. Since it was felt that his original design wouldn't match the style of theDream Kingdom, he was given new clothes: he wears green to represent the shop, as well as white to represent innocence, given that he is known for being a liar. Lastly, Kumazaki confirmed that this is the same Magolor as the mainKirby universe, rather than an alternate counterpart — but because the Dream Kingdom is located in a parallel world, he has no need to make up for his previous misdeeds.[7]Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler later explicitly shows Magolor, after redeeming himself, arriving in the Dream Kingdom through adimensional rift and setting up shop.
Magolor accepts currency in the form ofGem Apples andFragments, though the latter are only used to purchase and upgrade weapons and armor. He also sells Gem Apples, though these require real-world currency to purchase. InTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe, Magolor offers discounts for Gem Apple purchases on Sunday of each week (which he refers to as "Magolor Day"). InSuper Kirby Clash, he occasionally offers three Gem Apples as a free gift instead if there is an internet connection. In both games, if Kirby purchases all of the Shoppe's equipment, Magolor will don his original blue and yellow robe.
InKirby Star Allies, Magolor makes his playable debut as aDream Friend starting in Version 4.0.0. He primarily takes from his appearance inKirby's Return to Dream Land, but possesses several attacks inspired by his boss incarnation, his moves in the New Challenge Stages ofKirby's Dream Collection Special Edition, and even his Shopkeeper role inTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe. He also gains a version of theUltra Sword as one of his attacks.
Magolor is capable of imbuing his allies with the 'Bluster', 'Zap', and 'Sizzle'Power Effects. He also has a uniqueFriend Ability calledMagoloran Launch, which has him create a replica of theLor Starcutter which his allies jump into.

InKirby's Dream Buffet, Magolor is represented in several different ways, though he does not make a direct appearance. Firstly, one of theBattle Royale stages is made to resemble him, called theMagolor Cake. Second, Kirby can unlock acostume andcolor to make himself resemble Magolor. Lastly, Magolor appears on four differentCharacter Treats, which include his artwork fromKirby's Return to Dream Land, his 8-bit incarnation from the North American version ofKirby's Dream Collection, his Shopkeeper artwork fromSuper Kirby Clash, and his artwork from theKirby 30th Anniversary Music Festival.
Magolor reprises his role fromKirby's Return to Dream Land in its remake,Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. While his role in both Story Mode and Extra Mode is largely the same, he does gain some new dialogue when spoken to in theLor Starcutter. For instance, if spoken to after collecting all 120 Energy Spheres in Extra Mode, he reveals that Halcandra is not actually his home; he lied because he wanted Kirby to visit it, presumably so he could use him to retrieve the Master Crown. He also reveals that his greatest dream is to openan amusement park, but decides to start small witha shop instead. In the end, he hopes that no matter where he and Kirby meet, they will remain best friends.[8] In addition, Magolor serves many more roles in this game.
Magolor directing the contestants in the Sub-Game Magolor's Tome Trackers.
InKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Magolor is the main operator of the newly-addedMerry Magoland, here taking on the role ofManager Magolor. In this role, he explains the park and also gives out information about top scores in theSub-Games, similar toWise Waddle Dee inKirby and the Forgotten Land.
In addition, Magolor can be seen in some of the Sub-Games, as follows:
InMagolor's Tome Trackers he can be seen dressed like a professor with a white mustache and directs the contestants to collect the Magic Tomes he is thinking of.
InNinja Dojo, Magolor may appear alongside some of the targets, dressed as a ninja. It is not possible to hit him with a star, however.
InKirby on the Draw, Magolor may appear as one of the targets. His is worth 120 points, the most of any target.
InSamurai Kirby, Magolor appears as the fourth opponent in single-player mode. He whacks Kirby with a miniature Lor Starcutter if he wins, and Kirby hits him with theUltra Sword if he loses (referencing his boss fight).
Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler[edit]
InKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, anExtra Mode calledMagolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler features Magolor as the main playable character. In it, after he is defeated in the main story, Magolor is cast adrift through Another Dimension and loses most of his magical power. To regain it, he must travel a variety of strange dimensions whilst defeating enemies and collectingFruit Fragments. Doing the former will award Magolor Magic Points once he completes a stage, and they can be used to strengthen his abilities. However, to gain new ones, the aforementioned Fruit Fragments are needed. Magolor can manage upgrades for his skills using theMagolor's Magical Skills submenu, accessible from the mainlevel hub.

By turning onHelper Magolor when playing through the Story Mode, Magolor will assist the player by tossing a Stamina Potion to double theirhealth, in addition to providingAbility Stars or healing items during boss battles and fishing the player out ofbottomless pits should they fall into any of them. This setting cannot be turned on during the entirety ofAnother Dimension and inExtra Mode.
If Helper Magolor is enabled and Kirby performs Festival Dance using theFestival ability, Magolor will also join in the dance from either sides by throwing confetti or playing instruments like a tambourine and a trumpet.
Magolor's likeness appears in fiveDress-Up Masks, making him the character with the most masks dedicated to them that isn't Kirby.
The regular Magolor mask can be unlocked by completing card #50 of theStamp Rally, and it replaces the wearer's voice with Magolor's.
Completing Story Mode and Extra Mode will reward the player with masks based onTraitor Magolor and Traitor Magolor EX, respectively. Wearing either of these replaces the player's voice with Magolor's voice clips from his boss battle.
CompletingMagolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler rewards the Interdimensional Magolor mask, based on his appearance in said mode. His voice clips are the same as the regular Magolor mask.
Completing all ofMerry Magoland's 100 regular missions rewards a mask based on Manager Magolor. Once again, his voice clips are the same as his regular variant's mask.
InKirby Air Riders, Magolor appears as one of the playable riders, able to make use of his spells to attack. Like other riders, he is able to wieldCopy Abilities, and for hisSpecial he fires his Magolor Cannon. He is unlocked either throughTop Ride by attacking the same rider twice with theDrill Driver item, or throughCity Trial by entering all six secret rooms acrossSkyah which open randomly during field events. His alternate palette is gray, and is directly based on his appearance in Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler. DuringRoad Trip cinematics and on the Road TripChecklist image, he can be seen riding theTurbo Star.
Magolor appears as a primarySpirit inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, using his official artwork fromKirby's Return to Dream Land. His Spirit is ranked ★★★ Ace, Attack-type, has 3 support slots, and no skill. Interestingly, he has higher defense than attack despite being Attack-type, with base stats of 1,730 defense and 931 attack and level 99 stats of 5,205 defense and 2,802 attack. He can be obtained in three ways; battling him inWorld of Light, battling him in theSpirit Board, or by purchasing him from theShop.
During the Spirit Battle inWorld of Light andSpirit Board, Magolor's spirit possesses one maleRobin (a magic user) and is fought on theHalberd stage with "CROWNED" as the battle music. In this battle, the screen will occasionally flip upside-down, which is a reference to the fight against Magolor Soul inKirby's Return to Dream Land.
In addition to his role in the video games, Magolor appears in some of theKirby novels, taking on a different role in each appearance. His first appearance in the novels is inKirby's Labyrinth Rescue!, and he has made a couple others since then, most notably in those based on theKirby Clash games and those based more directly onKirby's Return to Dream Land.
Magolor's main theme song is known as"Magolor, the Far-Flung Traveler". InKirby's Return to Dream Land and its remake, it plays on the main menu and when Kirby visits him in the Lor Starcutter, and can be heard as music 002 in the game'sSound Test and track 26 in the remake's Jukebox.
Additionally, it has a variation in later games which is titled異空ヲカケル旅人(The Traveler Across Another Dimension) in Japanese and"Interdimensional Traveler" in English. This version is used for:
Magolor's name comes from "magic" or "mage", and the name of his ship, the Lor Starcutter. His Japanese name「マホロア」(Mahoroa) is, likewise, a portmanteau of「魔法」(mahō, magic) and「ローア」(Rōa, the Japanese name of the Lor Starcutter). According to a Miiverse post made by the developers, his name also invokes「真秀呂場」(mahoroba, a Japanese term meaning "wonderful place").[9]
There is another in-universe meaning for Magolor's name, as well. During the second stage of theCorrupt Hyness fight inHeroes in Another Dimension inKirby Star Allies, the Boss Description page in the pause menu states that Mafo means "lie" inHyness' language, while Lor means "paradise". While not identical, it can be assumed that Magolor's name derives from these two terms and translates to something along the lines of "false paradise".
Screencap of the North American website forKirby's Return to Dream Land, misspelling Magolor's name as "Magalor". Note that his name is spelled correctly in the paragraph below.
In several official sources, Magolor's name is improperly spelled "Magalor". It is possible that the misspelling derives from how the name is pronounced. This can be seen both on theNorth American website forKirby's Return to Dream Land (archive link) and in Magolor's Dream Friend moveset inKirby Star Allies ("Magalor Surge"). This appears to be unintentional, as Magolor's name is spelled correctly in other places in both instances, and the name of the move fromKirby Star Allies would be corrected forKirby Fighters 2 andKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe.
The same misspelling was used in the title of Magolor'sKirby Star Allies Dream Friend debut trailer, which in turn was never fixed. It is only present in the American English version of the trailer, as all other language versions correctly spell his name.

One day, a huge hole opened in the sky and the Lor Starcutter crashed down to Dream Land. Magolor, the captain of the ship, wasn't injured in the crash, but the ship lost several important parts. Kirby and his friends help recover the pieces, and Magolor guides them to Halcandra. Everything seems to be going well...
One day, a rift appeared in the sky above Dream Land, and the Lor Starcutter came crashing through it. The captain, Magolor, was safe, but his ship's pieces got blasted far and wide. Kirby and friends help him put them back together, and to thank them, Magolor takes them on a trip to Halcandra. A lovely story! If only it ended there...
A mysterious visitor from another dimension. Magolor is a cosmic traveler who has crash landed on Planet Popstar. Kirby and his friends set off on an adventure to find the missing pieces of Magolor’s ship, the Lor Starcutter, and help Magolor return to his home planet.
According to aMiiverse post by the developers, he speaks a language that "could be called 'Magolorese'", which mostly consists of gibberish, but has a few recognizable words such as Kirby's name.[10]
In the English version ofKirby's Return to Dream Land, one of Magolor's lines when Kirby talks to him repeatedly has him mention that he's "way behind on his chores" and he "needs a haircut". This was not in the original Japanese text. The line was retranslated more accurately forKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, instead having him mention he has "other planets to visit" and "other things to do".
On October 23, 2015, Satoshi Ishida revealed in a Miiverse post that the Master Crown "took control of" Magolor after Kirby hit him with the Ultra Sword, and that Magolor's final defeat and "liberation from his crimes" was envisioned as a bonus scene that would only play if all "special items" (presumably Energy Spheres) were collected. In the end, it was decided that this was too important to leave out, so it was included in the main game.[11]
In theKirby Art & Style Collection, one page detailing concept art for Magolor revealed that the use of yellow in his design is meant to foreshadow his betrayal inKirby's Return to Dream Land, with an annotation highlighting the color's association with betrayal in Christianity (said association came from its use in post-classical European art as a visual motif forJudas Iscariot, the disciple ofJesus who aided in his arrest and eventual crucifixion by identifying him in the garden of Gethsemane). Another piece of concept art for Magolor details early designs for his "normal" and "traitor" forms, which appear to have become the bases forPresident Haltmann's design inKirby: Planet Robobot. A smaller piece of concept art near the end of the book reveals that Magolor was designed as a girl at one point.
From魔法 (magic) and 「ローア」 (Lor Starcutter). Also derived from 「真秀呂場」mahoroba (wonderful place). Officially romanized asMagolor in many Japanese sources.
↑"As a token of my gratitude, I'll let you in on a little secret about this ship. The Lor is a legendary Halcandran vessel crafted by theancients. It's said that an incredible power was used to construct it. This same power gave rise toclockwork stars that soar the cosmos... mysterious items that can bring dreams to life... and countless other legendary creations. I excavated this ship from the volcano where Landia dwells and repaired it. But there's another ancient artifact there, one that lets you rule the universe! And I have a feeling Landia isn't willing to part with it quite so easily. So hurry up and defeat that dragon for me, Kirby!" –Magolor (in the Lor Starcutter when Kirby has collected all 120 Energy Spheres,Kirby's Return to Dream Land Extra Mode)

↑"By the way, I knew about you long before our fateful meeting. Kirby, the happy-go-lucky hero with the bottomless stomach. I even know somebody who knows you quite well! Even on this world, you're incredibly popular! There may even be some folks here who have fought with you before. If everybody would just get along, it would make things so much easier. Nothing good comes of fighting. Let's always stay friends, Kirby!" –Magolor (in the Lor Starcutter when Kirby has collected all 120 Energy Spheres,Kirby's Return to Dream Land Extra Mode)
↑"Oh! I keep meaning to tell you this! I knew about you long before our fateful meeting. Kirby, puffball of Popstar, the happy-go-lucky hero with the bottomless stomach. Word gets around! I even know somebody who knows you quite well. Even on this world, you're incredibly popular! Hee hee hee! There may even be some folks here who have fought with you before. How foolish of them... Getting along and being friends makes everything so much...easier. Don't you agree? Nothing good comes of fighting. Let's always stay friends, Kirby!" –Magolor (in the Lor Starcutter when Kirby has collected all 120 Energy Spheres,Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe Extra Mode)
Interviewer: Magolor fromKirby's Return to Dream Land also makes an appearance, doesn't he? Why were his clothes changed to green, instead of the original blue? Kumazaki: For one thing, Magolor's original color scheme doesn't quite match the style of the Dream Kingdom. And it's not like he just disappeared and disguised his identity so he could appear in front of Kirby again (laughs). This is a parallel, and the part where he says "My name is Magolor!" is also parallel[meaning, he has no reason to hide because this isn't the same Kirby he met before]. Magolor is a very popular character who was crucial to the story ofKirby's Return to Dream Land, and I'm sure many of you have wondered about his relationship to the Magolor of this game; even though it's a parallel, he is the same person[lit. "he is appearing as himself"]. Interviewer: I see. That clears things up. Kumazaki: But the Dream Kingdom's story takes place in another world, so it's not as if Magolor is atoning for his misdeeds (from the story ofKirby's Return to Dream Land). If anything, we wanted to have someone who'd have a keen commercial interest in making transactions. We didn't want the billing process to be seen negatively, so we left it to Magolor (laughs). Interviewer: So he was the right person for the job. Kumazaki: The reason why his clothes are green is that he's dressed for the shop. Also, since he's a liar, white is a good look for innocence (laughs)." –Nintendo DREAM (July 2017)
↑"One last thing. I may have told you a teeny, tiny, itsy-bitsy lie. Sorry about that. Aw, don't give me that look. I guess it may have been several lies...but who's counting, right? Anyway, the truth is...I'm not really from Halcandra. Have you seen the place? It's a dusty mess! But I did spend a lot of time traveling to different spots around here, and I eventually discovered the Lor Starcutter by the volcano. So, the part about me being all alone on Halcandra for a very, very long time? That part's true. But I wanted you to come here too! That's why I lied. This planet is just too, too amazing... It's a veritable paradise of mysterious magic and unknown technology! Or so they say. Anyway, I want to make things right, and there's no better way to do that...than to tell you about my lifelong dream! Truth be told, I want to hear the screams of every living being in the universe... Screams of JOY, that is, as they visit my very own amusement park! It'd have all kinds of surprises! But I'd have to work suuuper hard to become the manager of an amusement park like that. Hmmm. Maybe I'd start small. Open my own shop first. I could sell lots of different items... Ooo! If I do open my own shop, you'll have to come visit it, Kirby! I'll hook you up with the best deals. My prices will be so fair they're practically a steal! No foolin'! I guess what I'm saying is...no matter where you go and no matter where we may meet... Let's always stay the best of friends, Kirby!" –Magolor (in the Lor Starcutter when Kirby has collected all 120 Energy Spheres,Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe Extra Mode)
