TheMagic Yarn is a special thread-like substance that can be found after defeatingBosses inKirby's(Extra)Epic Yarn. It is responsible for holding together the seven distinct pieces ofPatch Land, as well as granting power to theMagic Socks.Kirby andPrince Fluff embark on a journey to obtain these strands of yarn in order to restorePatch Land afterYin-Yarn had split the kingdom into its seven component pieces. Each strand of Magic Yarn is responsible for holding two pieces of Patch Land together. There are eight strands of Magic Yarn in total—though only seven are needed to hold Patch Land together, an eighth strand is held byYin-Yarn directly.
Each boss inPatch Land has one strand of Magic Yarn in its grasp, with the exception of the first piece, which is held by a hitherto unknown blob creature namedLickeur that appears only in a cutscene.Yin-Yarn appears to require these strands in order to create/control the bosses he commands. During the fight with the woven sorcerer,Yin-Yarn uses his Magic Yarn strand to conjure enemies and to transform himself into Mega Yin-Yarn.
