| “ | He mustn't interfere with our plans! | ” | — Mace Knight inRevenge of Meta Knight - Chapter 1,Kirby Super Star Ultra |
Mace Knight is part of the Mid-BossMeta-Knights inKirby's Adventure andKirby Super Star, as well as their respective remakes,Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land andKirby Super Star Ultra. He is seen on theHalberd and onAquarius.
Mace Knight is thetoughest of the four Meta-Knights, taking many hits to defeat, though he can still be easilyinhaled, but will giveKirby noCopy Ability if swallowed. Despite his name, he actually attacks with a flail, not a mace. He swings the flail over his head and occasionally throws it, causing it to fly a considerable distance to the left or right before returning to him. His flail is capable of blocking certain attacks, particularly ones that cannot penetrate. Mace Knight cannot jump, meaning that if he is knocked down to a lower area, he cannot get back up again.

Kirby's Adventure /Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land[edit]
Mace Knight debuts as a member of the Meta-Knights mid-boss inKirby's Adventure and its remake,Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. He is fought alongside the other group membersAxe Knight,Javelin Knight, andTrident Knight. During the battle, he will swing his flail over his head and dash towardsKirby, and may also thrust it at him. He can be defeated withCopy Abilities or by simply inhaling him, though he has morehealth than the other knights.
Kirby Super Star[edit]
Mace Knight re-appears inKirby Super Star with a similar role to that of its previous outing, battle-wise. However, in the sub-gameRevenge of Meta Knight, he has a speaking role along withAxe Knight and the other members of theHalberd crew, commenting as Kirby completes his task of destroying the Halberd. He is mainly in charge of giving updates on the Halberd's condition and is also tasked with firing up the main cannon. Additionally, if Kirby finds the secret room on the ship with lots offood and1-Ups, Mace Knight will reveal that the stash of goodies in said room belongs to him, and expresses much sadness as Kirby eats it all. In the Japanese version, Mace Knight has a habit of appending 「だス」 ("da su") to the end of his sentences.
Despite having a speaking role during the sub-game Revenge of Meta Knight, he is not fought in the enemy ambush inChapter 7. This discrepancy is rectified in the remake.
Mace Knight's dialogue sprites in Revenge of Meta Knight depicts him with a maroon palette, but this color scheme does not appear anywhere else in the game.

Mace Knight also appears inKirby Quest. Similarly to Strato Patrol EOS, he is battled with the rest of the Meta-Knights in Chapter 3.
Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]

- In most games, Mace Knight's "visor" can light up on its own, which depicts lines of light whose color differs depending on the color palette of the enemy. It is unknown if the lines of light are his actual "eyes" or not.
- Despite not giving Kirby a Copy Ability when inhaled, there's an unused version of Mace Knight intended for aMuseum hidden in the files forKirby's Adventure, which gives Kirby theHammer ability when inhaled.
