| “ | TheLor Starcutter, now controlled by the traitor Magolor, is being usedas a weapon against Kirby and friends! If the shadowy shiphad a mind of its own...how would itfeel at this moment? | ” | — VS Lor & Magolor Special Page inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe |
Near the end of theKirby's Return to Dream Land and itsremake, Kirby and his friends have to face off against theLor Starcutter, whilst riding the dragonLandia. This boss fight is formally calledLor & Magolor, and is fought as the first boss of the levelAnother Dimension. During the battle, as it is being puppeteered by Magolor, the Lor's appearance changes to a dark purple and pink coloration (or a combination of black, gold and red inExtra Mode) and is capable of using its own parts to attack Kirby and his allies.
Attacks[edit]
The following lists all of the Lor's attacks in the Main Mode ofKirby's Return to Dream Land. All attack names are from official Japanese strategy guides, unless otherwise stated.
| Attacks - Story Mode | |
|---|---|
| Attack | Description |
| エムブレムショット Emblem Shot | The Lor fires stars from its Emblem as it re-positions. In the second phase, more stars are fired at once. Sometimes it may move in from behind, and start firing, with a blind spot directly underneath the Lor. Other times, it may rapid-fire stars from the background à la Zero fromKirby's Dream Land 3. |
| ウィングブーメラン Wing Boomerang | The Lor throws its wings at Landia as boomerangs, starting with the left, which travels more horizontally, then the right, which travels more vertically. In the second phase, this is followed up by throwing them both at once. |
| オールレイン Oar Rain | The Lor fires its Oars as homing missiles, going one at a time. |
| マストストーム Mast Storm | The Lor fires a massive whirlwind from its Mast. In the first phase, it fires at the edge of the screen and moves up and down while doing so. In the second phase, it fires from the center and instead swivels around clockwise or counter-clockwise. |
| Second phase only | |
| エナジースフィア弾 Energy Sphere Bullet | The Lor fires giant spheres of energy behind, which then move to the left. The blue ones fire straight ahead, while the red ones fire toward the target. |
| スフィアバリアタックル Sphere Barrier Tackle | The Lor activates its shield, then flies forward off the screen. It then transitions into anEmblem Shot. |
Lor EX & Magolor[edit]
| “ | Lor sensed something was amiss when it met Magolor. It can travel to far-off paradises with ease...so why didn't it? Perhaps it hid its true power, wanting to be stopped afterstealing the crown... | ” | — VS Lor EX & Magolor Special Page inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe |
In Extra Mode, the Lor's attack patterns are faster and cover more space, and a few new moves are added:

Trivia[edit]
- The star visible on the mast during the Lor & Magolor and Lor EX & Magolor boss battles strongly resembles theDark Star andDark Star X from the originalMario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.
- The Extra Mode version of this boss is named "Lor EX & Magolor", and is notably unique for being the only EX version of a boss to not have the "EX" denominator be placed at the end of the boss's name. This is becauseMagolor has not transformed into his EX form yet at the time of the battle, resulting in the "EX" denominator being moved near Lor's name.
