| “ | Oh yeah? Try and figure your way out of this! | ” | — Lololo & Lalala inKirby's Avalanche |
Lololo & Lalala are a duoboss that first appeared inKirby's Dream Land and reappeared inKirby Super Star andKirby Super Star Ultra, along with a few later spin-off titles. They primarily attack by pushing greenblocks (called Emerald Framers) or, occasionally,Gordos as they move across the screen from door to door, hurtingKirby if he makes contact.
Description[edit]
Lololo and Lalala are directly based on Prince Lolo and Princess Lala, the main protagonists of the puzzle game seriesEggerland, which was also developed byHAL Laboratory. They are both short, spherical creatures with large eyes, no visible mouth, short tails, and a pair of white mittens and feet. Lololo is colored blue while Lalala is pink and wears a yellow bow. The two are typically depicted as hostile towards Kirby, harming him if he makes contact with them or the Emerald Framers or Gordos they push. The Emerald Framers can beinhaled and shot out asStar Bullets to damage them.
While their physical appearances have largely remained consistent since their introduction inKirby's Dream Land, starting withKirby's Blowout Blast, Lalala wears thin eyeliner with a single pair of short lashes to further differentiate her from Lololo.
Location[edit]
Lololo and Lalala are both typically fought inCastle Lololo, though they also appear onMt. Dedede in Kirby's Dream Land and theFloat Islands in theSpring Breeze game ofKirby Super Star and itsremake.

Kirby's Dream Land[edit]

Lololo & Lalala made their debut appearance inKirby's Dream Land, the first installment of theKirby series, as the boss ofCastle Lololo and later on also appear inMt. Dedede.
While floating through Castle Lololo, Kirby eventually comes across Lololo, who starts shoving Emerald Framers towards him which Kirby needs to project back at him to make him retreat back into the castle. After venturing to the end of the castle, Kirby faces both Lololo and Lalala in a four layer checked room. They attack Kirby with their usual tactic of pushing blocks from point A to B, disappearing into one of the eight doors once they reach it and reappearing from another. To defeat them, Kirby has to inhale the blocks and spit them back at them.
InExtra Game, when Lololo is fought alone, he moves faster and will also launch aGordo after he shoves an Emerald Framer. When Lololo and Lalala are fought together, they only move faster.
Kirby's Avalanche[edit]

Lololo & Lalala (formatted asLololo and Lalala in the instruction booklet) are the opponents of Stage 6 inKirby's Avalanche. Their equivalent in thePuyo Puyo series is Panotty. Their Blobs turn into music notes when they clear, which is an aspect shared by Harpy in thePuyo Puyo series.
Kirby Super Star[edit]

![]()
InKirby Super Star, Lololo & Lalala reappear in theSpring Breeze mode, a remake ofKirby's Dream Land, as the boss of theFloat Islands stage, which was fused with Castle Lololo. In this game, they behave the same as they did in their debut appearance, but after one of them is defeated, the other speeds up. Due to the addition ofCopy Abilities, Kirby is no longer required to spit their blocks back at them, unless he loses his ability or enters the battle without one. To compensate for this, they occasionally push Gordos, just like Lololo did inKirby's Dream Land's Extra Game. They are also fought inThe Arena.
Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]
![]()
Lololo & Lalala return inKirby Super Star Ultra as bosses inSpring Breeze,The Arena, andMeta Knightmare Ultra. A harder alternate version of Lololo & Lalala, namedLololo & Lalala's Revenge, is found withinRevenge of the King, serving as the boss ofIllusion Islands. There are now four rows to deal with rather than three, and another Gordo can appear in one of the rows by itself, potentially making three rows that Kirby needs to avoid. Lololo & Lalala's Revenge also have alternate colors, with Lololo being purple and Lalala being orange with a red bow. After one of the duo is defeated, the other speeds up. This variation is fought inThe True Arena.
Lololo & Lalala are fought a total of five times inKirby Super Star Ultra. They are among the few bosses who are not fought inHelper to Hero. They also appear on a card inKirby Card Swipe.
Kirby Mass Attack[edit]
![]()
InKirby Mass Attack, Lololo & Lalala appear as bosses of theSub-GameKirby Brawlball. They are the second of four boss stages, and behave as they normally do — pushing blocks back and forth near the top of the room. Each one is worth 20,000 points when defeated, but if Kirby falls out of the boss board with one defeated and returns, that one will be revived with minimal HP, and only be worth 500 points when defeated again.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

InKirby: Triple Deluxe, Lololo & Lalala appear in theKirby FightersSub-Game as hazards in theBattle StageCastle Lololo, which is based on their boss fights from earlier games. They act as they did before, pushing Emerald Framers andGordos again. If Lololo or Lalala are attacked enough, they will be defeated, though they will return after a while. The Emerald Framers can also be broken. Sometimes one of the two can also push around an item container instead of an Emerald Framer. They also appear as aKeychain, using their sprites fromKirby's Dream Land.
Kirby Fighters series[edit]
Lololo & Lalala appear once again inKirby Fighters Deluxe andKirby Fighters 2, reprising the same role they had in theKirby FightersSub-Game.
Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]
InKirby: Planet Robobot, Lololo & Lalala each appear as their own separatestickers, both using their art fromKirby Super Star Ultra.
Kirby's Blowout Blast[edit]

Lololo & Lalala are fought as bosses inKirby's Blowout Blast. Lololo is first fought by himself in Level 1, then both he and Lalala together in Level 3. The two are also fought in Revenge form in the EX versions of those stages. The fight is similar to how it has always been, but now takes place in a 3D space. Lololo & Lalala will either push their Emerald Framers or Gordos along, and sometimes will kick them forward instead. In the EX stages, they move faster, and may also push red Emerald Framers, which leave a toxic path along the ground that lingers for a short while. In theSecret Path, the layout of their battlefield notably resembles the usual layout of the area the duo appear in, though in a 3D environment.
Kirby Air Riders[edit]
Lololo & Lalala are playable inKirby Air Riders, acting as a unique two-in-one rider. They can be unlocked by finishing anAir Ride race atCrystalline Fissure within 3 minutes and 30 seconds, or defeating 10 riders making use of star-type machines inRoad Trip. Performing aQuick Spin changes which one is in the lead, though this is purely aesthetic. The one in the lead is always the one who wears headwear, as well as Copy Abilities, and changing who is in the lead simply transfers the headwear or Copy Ability to the other one. Their alternate coloration turns Lololo violet and Lalala orange with a red bow, much like Lololo and Lalala's Revenge.
TheirSpecial, simply titled Emerald Framer, allows them to automatically repeatedly toss large versions of their signature blocks that slide along the ground and cause damage. They pause throwing Emerald Framers while a Quick Spin is performed. The last Emerald Framer they throw is even larger and slides around for a longer period of time.
In the Road Trip cinematics andChecklist image, Lololo and Lalala ride theWagon Star.
InKirby: Right Back at Ya![edit]

- Main article:Fololo & Falala
In the anime,Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Lololo & Lalala, referred to as "Fololo & Falala" in most of the international versions for unknown reasons, appear as Kirby's friends rather than being hostile towards him. They bear a similar appearance to their in-game design, but Fololo is of a considerably darker shade of blue, whereas Falala is a shade of orange-pink. In addition to these changes in appearance, the two are capable of flight in the anime, and are much smaller than their video game counterparts.
Trivia[edit]

- Lololo & Lalala's boss fight in Kirby Brawlball heavily references theEggerland series, such as the panels with hearts (referencing Heart Framers) and the presence of aBlocky (who greatly resembles the enemy Rocky).
- Lololo & Lalala were originally set to appear as aball character inKirby: Canvas Curse, along with otherbosses from previous games, likeDark Matter,Zero, andNightmare's Power Orb. However, the idea was scrapped, and they don't appear in the final game.[1]
- While neither Lololo or Lalala appear in-game, Lalala's name was used for the pink Kirby on the My Nintendo store page forKirby Battle Royale.
- A promotional flyer forTwinkle☆Popo, the prototype ofKirby's Dream Land, describes Lololo and Lalala as a "married boss couple who live ina castle", with the reason behind their behavior of pushing Emerald Framers being because "they love it so much that they can't help it".[2]
- The German name ofVegetable Valley inKirby's Adventure is "Lololos Wäldchen" (Lololo's Grove), despite Lololo not appearing in the game at all; this same name is used for the "Forest Stage" music in bothKirby Air Ride andKirby and the Rainbow Curse. The location was renamed to omit Lololo's name inKirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.
