Kirby Rocket's Big Blastoff is the third stage of the levelBlue Sky Palace inKirby and the Rainbow Curse. In this stage,Kirby infiltrates theBastron using theKirby Rocket transformation. Once inside, he presses theBig Switch that initiates Bastron's self-destruct sequence, then quickly flies out with the help of a map of Bastron's interior.

Completing the stage unlocksSky-High Whispy Woods.

Overview[edit]

This stage begins near the top of a tall tower. Kirby will need to ride a wind current to head to the next area. Nothing else can be found here.

The following area featuresBastron in the background and has a canvas up at the tower's top. Once Kirby approaches this canvas,Elline appears and uses it to transform Kirby into theKirby Rocket. From here, Kirby blasts off toward the Bastron.

Kirby Rocket flies into the Bastron through an opening in the hull. From here, he will have to navigate through several cramped metal passages while collectingPoint Stars and avoidingShotzo fire. Further down the hall, Kirby will need to make use the Kirby Rocket's version of aStar Dash to bust through some metal blocks in the way. From there, Kirby needs to activate some background panels to make the gates ahead open up for him.

This next area is the main feature of the stage. It begins with Kirby pressing aBig Switch inside a room. Pressing this switch activates Bastron's self-destruct sequence. After a moment of panic, Elline gets an idea to help them escape by drawing a guide line through a map of the area up ahead. Using the stylus, the player can determine what route will be best which will take the Kirby Rocket across the panels and five treasure chests in the area and then escape in under a minute. Once the line is drawn and the plan is made, the endeavor begins. While Kirby is traveling through this zone, he can pick up more stars, and in a couple spots, can find clock items that add 10 seconds to the timer. If Kirby fails to leave the area before the timer hits zero, he will be immediately defeated and will have to start the area over from the top.

After escaping Bastron, Kirby returns to normal form and lands on solid ground. Bastron explodes behind him, showering Kirby with lots of stars. Theroulette wheel can be found immediately to the right to end the stage.
