- This article is about the transformation fromKirby and the Rainbow Curse. For thetransformation fromKirby's Epic Yarn, seeRocket. For theCopy Ability, seeMissile.
| “ | Kirby Rocket will zoom through the air and change course when he touches a rainbow rope. | ” | — Kirby and the Rainbow Curse electronic manual, page 14 |
TheKirby Rocket is atransformation thatKirby can undergo inKirby and the Rainbow Curse. It transforms him into a cylindrical rocket with a white body and red thrusters. In this form, Kirby flies freely through the air and automatically defeats most enemies he crashes into. He can be guided using theRainbow Rope, and controls similarly to theMissileCopy Ability inKirby: Canvas Curse. The Kirby Rocket is used in the stagesKirby Rocket's Big Blastoff,Back to the Battleship, andThe Final Battle. Kirby Rocket also appears in several stages inChallenge Mode.
Details[edit]
| “ | Kirby takes this form when he takes to the skies. He can only fly in a straight line, so you need to guide his course with a rainbow rope. He can even zap enemies with the shock wave radiating from his head! | ” | — Kirby RocketFigurine description fromKirby and the Rainbow Curse |
While in rocket form, Kirby will fly straight in any direction, unaffected by gravity, though he will need to be guided using theRainbow Rope. Kirby Rocket will automatically bounce off of walls in a similar manner to aStar Dash, and will defeat most enemies that Kirby runs directly into, though he can still take damage from projectiles and enemies likeGordo. Using a Star Dash allows him to speed up significantly and plow throughmetal blocks unabated.
Unlike the other Kirby transformations, anyWaddle Dees present do not join Kirby directly. Instead, they can help give the Kirby Rocket a boost when the players controlling them mash directional inputs.
In theKirby novel series[edit]

In theKirby novel series, the Kirby Rocket makes an appearance inKirby's Labyrinth Rescue!. To showcase the abilities of the canvas,Elline draws a pink rocket on it. The rocket comes out of the canvas, combining withKirby and turning him into the Kirby Rocket. Elline tells Kirby and his friends that the rocket has a radar that they can use to navigate the labyrinth. Kirby and his friends continue to go through the labyrinth, navigating easily and using the Kirby Rocket to blow enemies in their path.King Dedede gets jealous of the rocket and tries to take the canvas fromWaddle Dee without success. Later, when they try to open the door toTaranza, the Kirby Rocket breaks it by performingStar Dashes. Using all of the rocket's power, Kirby transforms back to his regular form. When the others go to try and smash theDimension Mirror, King Dedede gets the idea to transform himself into a rocket, snatching the canvas from Waddle Dee and crudely drawing on it. Because of the poor design of the rocket, when Dedede transforms into the King Dedede Rocket, he cannot control himself, flying everywhere. As the others chaseMagolor and the mirror, the King Dedede Rocket accidently crashes into Magolor, who drops the mirror. The impact of the crash makes Dedede revert back to his normal form.
- The poorly designed King Dedede Rocket cannot fly correctly.
Trivia[edit]

- During the transformation, Kirby is first repainted to resembleCoo, referencing the fact that the Kirby Rocket, like Coo, specializes in traversing the air.
- Conversely, early concept sketches for Coo's debut game,Kirby's Dream Land 2, showed an idea for "Rocket Kirby" that strongly resembles the Kirby Rocket.
