King D-Mind is an enemy that is encountered after the main game ofTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe, and later appears inSuper Kirby Clash.
In the former, he is encountered twice at the very end of the Decisive Battlefield's line ofbosses, thus considered the final boss ofTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe. He is fought as part of "Tougher: The Final Battle" afterDark Taranza summons him from theBlack Mirror and again in his then-unnamed Revenge form in "Toughest: The True Final Battle". In the latter, he is fought in three Quests:his Story Quest battle serves as the game's ninth Ordeal, where he is summoned into battle byParallel Nightmare, andhis Revenge form serves as the penultimate Ordeal and Party Quest in the game.
Both times he is initially summoned, he immediately turns on the summoner with his hammer before fighting Team Kirby. InTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe, Dark Taranza shatters after getting hit, while inSuper Kirby Clash, Parallel Nightmare simply gets sent flying into the background from the attack.
Origin[edit]
While King D-Mind's origin and resemblance to bothKing Dedede andDark Mind is not explained in-game, General DirectorShinya Kumazaki explains it in aTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe interview:
| “ | Given that Taranza manipulated King Dedede as the hero of the lower world in "Kirby: Triple Deluxe", King D-Mind was created from the "Distorted Mirror" as what Dark Taranza considers the most savage individual. The backstory of "Kirby & The Amazing Mirror" is that "Evil minds were gathered and born within the Dimension Mirror". This time, Taranza's evil mind gathers in King D-Mind, who is not the actual King Dedede, and consequently, Dark Mind emerges from within his body. King D-Mind fights with aspects ofShadow Dedede andDark Mind, using his hammer (and later, an axe) to deal damage, as well as being able to fire numerous different types of projectiles from his weapons and from his belly, which can open up to reveal a burning eyeball similar to Dark Mind's true form inKirby & The Amazing Mirror. King D-Mind's Revenge is substantially more powerful, with some of his attacks being capable of taking out even a high-level Kirby hero in one hit if he is not wearing the best equipment.
Defeating him in The True Final Battle inTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe opens up an opportunity for Team Kirby to seal him back in the mirror from whence he came, and then shatter it, finally breaking the mirror's influence onTaranza and saving the Dream Kingdom.

| Dark Maw Rush | King D-Mind's belly distends and then opens revealing a large eyeball inside. From there, he begins rapidly flying around the arena as the maw chomps. This attack is repeated several times as the maw grows larger and larger. | |||
| キングD・ビーム King D-Beam[1] | After finishing Dark Maw Rush, King D-Mind positions himself near the top of the screen with the eye aimed downward. The eye then proceeds to fire a massive laser toward the ground. He fires this laser several times, sweeping the ground as the laser pulses. | His regular form locks on to two Kirbys and fires the laser after stopping for a brief second. The final ground sweep occurs twice in a row from left-to-right and right-to-left in either order. Team Kirby Clash Deluxe[edit]
The first phase of King D-Mind battle plays an arrangement of "City Trial: Dyna Blade Intro", which is also used when fightingTougher: Landia EX. OnNintendo Music, this track is titled"A Decisive Battle with Mighty Bosses".
The second phase of King D-Mind battle plays an orchestral mashup of "Last Boss / 2nd Form" and "Masked Dedede's Theme".
Super Kirby Clash[edit]
King D-Mind's Revenge uses remixed versions of the music tracks fromTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe, while the music used for both phases of King D-Mind's regular form is a remix of theGiant Masked Dedede battle theme inKirby's Blowout Blast.
Trivia[edit]
- King D-Mind's internal filename is "MaskedBlackDedede", a combination ofMasked Dedede and Black Dedede (the Japanese name ofShadow Dedede). Based on his moveset, King D-Mind can be considered "Shadow Dedede DX", but they are different characters.
- King D-Mind's Revenge inSuper Kirby Clash has the highest knownhealth inKirby series history, with 3,039,600HP. This information is not directly communicated to the player, and it should be noted that theKirby Clash games use a different health and damage system from the main series.
- Part of King D-Mind's axe from his second phase can be seen clipping through his hammer in his in-gameSuper Kirby Clash artwork.
- King D-Mind is the only traditional final boss that debuted beforeKirby Star Allies who isn't featured in the "Bad Boss Brothers"Celebration Picture.
