Kapar is aKappa-based enemy debuting inKirby's Dream Land 3. It is round and green, possessing a yellow beak and a pair of tiny, circular, black eyes, as well as flipper-like arms and two dark green, flat feet with three toes each. On its head, a round, yellow bulge surrounded by a wreath of pointed, green leaves can be seen, mimicking the bowl of water traditionally said to reside on a Kappa's head.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby's Dream Land 3[edit]

In-game sprite

InKirby's Dream Land 3, Kapars can be found in and outside of water throughout the game.

On land, the foe initially stands in one place, waiting forKirby to approach it; when he does, the Kapar leaps straight into the air. As soon as it reaches the same height as Kirby, it momentarily falls down again and afterwards tosses its wreath of leaves in a straight line, only to repeat the procedure a few seconds later. In water, Kapars instead swim after Kirby and may throw their corona at any time.

Touching either the Kapar itself or its weapon causes Kirby to take damage. The enemy can be defeated using any attack or inhaled and swallowed for theCutterability.

Screenshot of Big Kapar fromKirby 64: The Crystal Shards

Kapar returns in this game, appearing in 3D for the first time. Kapar mainly stands in place, and jumps fairly high to throw its cutter ring at Kirby when he approaches. As before, Kapar can operate both on land and in water. Kapar appears on the 43rdEnemy Info Card.

A larger mid-boss version of Kapar appears instage 3 ofAqua Star. This Kapar sits at the left end of the room and occasionally throws a cutter boomerang at Kirby whileBumbers appear and float downward from above. These Bumbers can be used as ammunition against the Kapar to defeat it.

Kirby Air Riders[edit]

Kapar appears in this game'sRoad Trip mode as one of the route characters inBoiler Boulevard. If selected, it will be summoned to deal with the leaky boiler at the end of the stage, though all it can do is ineffectively throw its cutter ring at the boiler, after which it bursts and sends the rider toDeep-Dive Drive. As with all route characters, Kapar also appears as an unlockable icon and sticker for the player's License Card.

Trivia[edit]

  • Kapar was planned to be included as a selectable pattern inKirby Family, a canceled application for theGame Boy Color that would send a pattern to a sewing machine for it to make.
