Illusion Islands is the second stage ofRevenge of the King fromKirby Super Star Ultra. It is a harder version ofFloat Islands fromSpring Breeze, as it has similar topography, the same theme music, a similar opening cutscene, and a similar boss, in the form ofLololo & Lalala's Revenge. Apart from the different coloration, some differences include tougher and different enemies, and a generally expanded topography. Illusion Islands retains the purple foliage from the previous stage,Purple Plants, and also takes place during the nighttime.

In the opening cutscene,Kirby is fishing in thewater. Instead of fishing out aBlipper, Kirby catch aFlotzo, who latches its suction tentacles onto Kirby.

Synopsis[edit]

The stage begins on the coastline overlooking bottomless bodies of water.

The first door leads to a cave section. It leads upward past tough enemies, including a pool with a Flotzo inside.

The door leads out of the cave and onto the islands, where Kirby will have to dodge the extremely quickCawcun.

The next door leads to another cave section, whereGrumples can be found in large numbers.

Back outside, Kirby can progress toward a castle, though the path is nothing if not perilous, as it is littered withBlatzys andMister Angleps.

Inside the castle, Kirby has to contend with themid-bossFire Lion. After defeating it, aWarp Star appears to take Kirby to the next area.

Kirby lands on the walls of Castle Lololo, and must progress up the steps, though they are swarming with foes. The door leads to the boss encounter (detailed in section below).

HAL Room[edit]

In the area outside the castles, astake can be found between two vertical Blatzys. Pounding this stake uncovers a food item and a hidden entrance to another area. In this area, Kirby has to battleMr. Tick Tock. After defeating him, Kirby can progress to the right, over a wall, and find aHAL Room, which consists of the HAL logo spelled out withStar Blocks and a1-Up. Near the exit door, Kirby can get anInvincible Candy.

Boss: Lololo & Lalala's Revenge[edit]

Inside the castle, Kirby has to contend with the teardrop-shaped twins, though with a different color scheme than before. The fight isn't too much different from the regular one, though sometimes,Gordos may appear as well, and there are four platforms instead of three.

Defeating Lololo & Lalala's Revenge yields aSparkling Star, and allows Kirby to progress to the next stage,Crash Clouds.
