| “ | This time we will succeed! Heavy Lobster, away! | ” | — Captain Vul aboutHeavy Lobster inRevenge of Meta Knight - Chapter 5,Kirby Super Star Ultra |
Heavy Lobster is a large, golden, mechanical, lobster-like boss most notable for his role protecting theHalberd inKirby Super Star andKirby Super Star Ultra. Equipped with rocket boosters and flamethrowers, he has the ability to charge through walls and deploy miniature versions of himself (similar toHeavy Mole). Additionally, Heavy Lobster can shoot out a goopy substance namedPaint Blobby[1] that givesKirby thePaintCopy Ability which can be used to blind Heavy Lobster. InKirby Super Star Ultra, a more resilient silver variant of Heavy Lobster serves as the boss of theMekkai stage inMilky Way Wishes.

Kirby Super Star[edit]
Heavy Lobster is fought twice inRevenge of Meta Knight. In his first encounter, Heavy Lobster is deployed by the Halberd's crew to stop Kirby from infiltrating the rocket valve of the Halberd. This first battle is cut short by the Halberd taking off, which blows both Kirby and Heavy Lobster away, destroying Heavy Lobster in the process. In the second encounter, Heavy Lobster is again deployed to stop Kirby, this time in the Halberd's cabin. This encounter begins with a chase sequence in which Heavy Lobster pursues Kirby through the ship, causing destruction to parts of the vessel, much to the crew's dismay. The chase concludes with Heavy Lobster jumping up to engage Kirby in a boss battle. When defeated, the resulting explosion of Heavy Lobster causes the right wing of the Halberd to be destroyed. During this second fight, if Kirby uses thePaint ability, he can blind Heavy Lobster, rendering him unable to aim accurately and causes him to move around in an unpredictable manner. The Halberd crew will comment on this in dismay, in an exchange that can be considered anEaster egg.
Heavy Lobster is also fought inMilky Way Wishes, where he appears as the boss ofMekkai. He also appears as one of the boss battles inThe Arena.

Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]

Heavy Lobster reappears inKirby Super Star Ultra, serving the same role he did in the original SNES version, though with a number of changes. Notably, he is given a unique battle theme. During his second battle in Revenge of Meta Knight, the background wall is now destroyed upon Heavy Lobster's entrance, revealing the setting of the fight to take place in a bomb bay. This detail likely explains why the explosion of Heavy Lobster is able to take out the entire right wing of the Halberd. In Milky Way Wishes, his battle on Mekkai is changed to be more distinct from his second battle in Revenge of Meta Knight. In this revamped battle, he is now silver, has increased health, and is fought in a factory making more Heavy Lobsters. Lastly, Heavy Lobster has a new defeat animation where his damaged body gets scattered to the floor upon losing all of his health rather than just simply exploding. His broken body parts are also used when Kirby and Heavy Lobster get blown off from Halberd in their first encounter.
InKirby Super Star Ultra, Heavy Lobster has a chance of appearing on a card inKirby Card Swipe. He also appears as a boss inHelper to Hero in a battle identical to his battle in Milky Way Wishes. His battles in Revenge of Meta Knight and Milky Way Wishes are repeated inMeta Knightmare Ultra. When fought inThe Arena, the boss appears in its standard golden coloring, yet the background is from the battle in Milky Way Wishes.
Kirby Mass Attack[edit]

Heavy Lobster serves as the third boss in theSub-GameKirby Brawlball. He exits and enters the arena through the top, left, and right side. His attack patterns are similar to those inKirby Super Star with a few modifications. Rather than spewing fire out of his claws, Heavy Lobster instead shoots bullets that burst into flames upon hitting the ground. Additionally, he fires three Paint Blobbies at a time instead of one, which splatter and obscure the screen if hit. Furthermore, instead of launching the miniature lobsters through his claws like in previous appearances, Heavy Lobster now deploys them through his mouth. Alongside the miniature lobsters, Heavy Lobster also launches tracking missiles through his mouth. He also has the ability to quickly dodge Kirby if the latter gets close to him occasionally and become invisible and invulnerable temporarily should Kirby constantly hit his back. AWheelie is present at the bottom of the arena, serving as an additional obstacle.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]
InKirby: Triple Deluxe, Heavy Lobster appears as a collectableKeychain, using hisKirby Super Star Ultra sprite.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
Heavy Lobster appears inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate as a ★★ shield-typeprimary spirit with one support slot. His level 1 stats are 730 attack and 930 defense, and its level 99 stats are 2,940 attack and 3,740 defense.

| “ | That monster is mechanical! Cook Kirby cannot stop it! | ” | — Meta Knight regardingHeavy Lobster inCombat Kirby |
Heavy Lobster appears as amonster in theKirby: Right Back at Ya! episodeCombat Kirby. Here, it is sent byeNeMeE to destroy theHalberd before it has a chance to reachhis fortress, arriving through a pod that latches on toMeta Knight's battleship. Once it arrives, Heavy Lobster proceeds to storm the halls of the ship and make its way toward the main engine room while the crew tries to stop it. Initial attacks via missile launcher andCookKirby fail to subdue it, but it is defeated at the last possible moment when Kirby uses theIceCopy Ability to freeze it, allowing a subsequent missile blast to shatter the monster.
Heavy Lobster's appearance and size in the episode are largely consistent with its representation in the games. However, its powers vary slightly, as it primarily attacks by shooting explosive laser blasts from its claws and melting walls with its heat ray, abilities not present in the games.

- In the Halberd trophy's description inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, Heavy Lobster is mentioned, being referred to as "a shrimp-like robot."
- Questions concerning Heavy Lobster's absence inKirby: Planet Robobot were addressed onMiiverse during the third and finalKirby: Planet Robobot Ask-a-Thon.Shinya Kumazaki's explanation was that they had to carefully consider which enemies to bring back and how they fit the game balance, and while they thought it would be "nice to add some flavor fromKirby Super Star", they instead decided to useKabula as the mechanical boss because it fit the shooting sequences.
