Gus is a rough-hewnCappy and resident ofCappy Town in the anime seriesKirby: Right Back at Ya!. He runs the local gas station in town. For most of the series, he is an insignificant character, but he gets his time in the spotlight for the two-part episodeBorn to Be Mild - Part I andPart II, where he races his motorcycle against his former friendFang and helpsKirby defeat him.
Characteristics[edit]
Gus is recognizable by his dirty green overalls, his uni-brow, and his spiky parted hair. His name was likely chosen due to sounding similar to the word "gas", in this context being short for "gasoline", relating to his occupation.
Gus is defined by his rough-hewn, but reserved character. He has a short temper, but is usually easy-going. It is revealed inBorn to Be Mild - Part I that he used to be involved in a criminal biker gang led byFang and was fast friends with him until the two challenged the legendary bikerSteppenwolf and failed. Gus left the gang after being reprimanded harshly by Steppenwolf and swore never to ride his motorcycle again, but Melman eventually convinces him to ride it again in order to right the wrongs of his past and defeat Fang.
InDedede's Raw Deal, Gus is shown to be quite fond of sushi, as he ends up eating over 250 plates of it in one go.
