"Finally, it's my turn!"
With word of a mechanized invasion in the the[sic] works, Gim sets out on a journey! What does the robot see? Why does he use his mischievous gimmick? Who knows?

— Guest Star Gim Up-and-Down Dynamo Pause Screen description inKirby Star Allies

Gim is anenemy that debuted inKirby Super Star. He is a robotic sphere with red feet, a blue baseball cap, exhaust pipes on his back, one green lens that serves as an eye, and a hole where the other eye would seem to go. He extends a hand from this hole, and uses the hand to swing a red yo-yo as a weapon.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby Super Star /Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]

Gim appears mainly in mechanized areas. IfKirby is not within range, Gim walks slowly toward him, attacking him with his fast yo-yo when he gets close. When Kirby swallows Gim, he gets theYo-Yoability. Changing the Yo-Yo ability into aHelper results in a Gim that has a blue hat and eye instead of green ones, which possesses all the abilities that Kirby does when using the Yo-Yo ability, and gains theInfinity Jump technique. If Kirby converts the Helper Gim into an object to re-swallow, he turns into a yo-yo.

Gim is playable in theHelper to Hero mode ofKirby Super Star Ultra. In this mode, he has a silver body, purple shoes and a red eye and a green cap. Gim is the only enemy to produce the Yo-Yo ability when swallowed. Gim also appears on a card inKirby Card Swipe.

  • Interestingly, inKirby Star Allies, Gim is depicted having his arm extending out of the hole on his face in his official artwork for the game as per usual, however in-game his arm instead extends from the side of his body.
